So I think im fucked. I got two fekking not yet competent, 1 distinction, 1 pass and a credit for the final test.

Will it be possible to achieve 70 for my final mark? I searched for accounting threads and shifted my way through the uni ones and the ones about the HSC don't seem promising. 89 scaled down to 77.5?? What??

So if I get 75/100 wouldn't it scale down to like 60s?

Damn I wish I never did this subject..

Well, everything scales down mostly - except at the super high echelons. It's a normal process. 70 should be doable, 80 ATAR as well - I believe Accounting is one of the better scalers.

As long as you do what you like, scaling is negligible. It's when you do CAFS, Society and Culture, General Maths, Standard English and whatnot and expect 99.95 where we step in and say "Hold on, now that's nice what you do what you like - but that is completely unrealistic." With your subjects, 80 should be quite doable.

I believe an ATAR of 80 is an aggregate of about 300, so even 60 scaled in all your subjects scaled will give you that.

Standard English and Advanced English scale similarly, it's just that very few people get band 6's in standard. So yes Advanced is the better option because it is easier to score higher within it where as standard it is difficult to get that high mark.

due you need to calm down, do your best and see what you get. What if your school marks hard, it will be moderated by the school. Best option is to ask your teacher on how past students performed in assessments and how did they go in the HSC, it should give you a better insight.

You don't get marked "hard" or receive "harder" assessments in Accounting. Its controlled by TAFE so everyone is marked and given the same assessments.

I do need to calm down and I can only calm down when the school week starts. I always go through an ATAR depression over the weekends :uhoh:

It would be awesome if some past Accounting HSC students could give their experiences in the course but its so hard to locate them D:

Mate you need to calm down. Deep breaths :haha:

You have to keep a good mentality throughout the HSC, and I think always calculating what marks you need will just get you more stressed (as I have learned). Basically, stop panicking, set the bar high, don't worry about the past and do your best (easier said then done). If you REALLY wanted to get 91 and get into that course, you would. You can do it champ, believe in yourself!

Pretty sure only the parts where it say Distinction/Credit/Pass will count and the competents/not competent won't count at all.

People in my school get state rankings in Accounting. Some of my fellow students ace it. Is Accounting that bad? o_O
Accounting isn't that bad its just that I only turned the corner in year 12 and Accounting HSC counts from day 1.

My own fault really.

Checked it, it says only graded areas receive grade but it doesn't necessarily say only the graded areas go towards your HSC.
