Im having some serious troubles here preparing for accg251 final, all i got here is the text book and lec Notes ：（，any tips bout how to review for this subject? Also, in SDLC why i keep running in to the term" feasibility evaluation" while i cant even find it on lec note/text book? help plz

i did find feasibility study/evaluation. but im really confused, why its introduced in the design stage. but other material says its usually brought out in the planning phase, anyone can help????

In a Feasibility evaluation the design team determines the practicality of alternative proposals and that's when they examine the five feasibility areas.

So basically when the steering committee reacts positively towards the recommendations they move forward with the systems design, then thats when they conduct a feasilibty evalutaion.

The planning fase is all about having the steering commitiee, study team and top management work together to PLAN the system... so it focuses on systems approach..

Hope this helps.... our only hope is to use the lecture notes, the book is retarded and huge with too much crap in it...

I did 251 last yr.. i only studied from lect notes for final exam. .and got merit for that.. so it wasnt that hard.. just making sure when u bs u know what u r talking about as 75% of the exam when i did was case study.
i did read txtbook throughout the smstr though..

thanks for the response guys, here, i got some more questions regarding to the case studies. One common question i keep getting from these case studies is about Me being one of the team member which is preparing for a new IS, and what areas i would review in the FIRST stage of SDLC and explain why these areas of activity should be undertaken.
My problem is, thumbing thru the lec notes for SDLC, i cant really find what to write about the area i should be reviewing in First stage of SDLC, all i can think of are the 3 elements in the lec notes but i think those are proberly not correct, any one who attend tutes or got a better fomulized answer for this type of question. Please help. thanks

Well the first phase is Systems planning.. and it involves something called a systems approach in order to perform a systems study.

Systems approach:
1- Approaching organizational problems from a borad point of view
2- Utilizing an Interdisciplinary study team to evaluate an organizations information systems
3- Having the companies steering committee work with the study team in all phases of work

So what happens, because your a team member you need be in a study team which Firstly identify goals that top management need. So your in a team of specialists.

THen the steering committee interfaces between the client companies management and the study team.

Then finally and most importantly you perfrom a pliminary investigation of the inforamtion system and advise the steering commite of your findings.

I listented to I lecture just to get an overal idea on how SDLC works.

Bullshitting 75% on top of what i just wrote will get you good marks probably

Both ACCG250 and 251's final exam were quite decent. Hope I will get more than a Pass.
