The tests are fair, I mean, why would an advanced student bother trying the advanced course (obviously more difficult than standard) when it was more than possible to achieve a band six in standard with presumably less work. The standard test just doesn't give the candidate the capacity to demonstrate they are of band 6 quality, because if they were, they should be doing advanced.

If you are able to do Adv. English then do it! The UAI people really take what english you do into account. My brother is heaps smart, but he hated english, so he did standard. The biggest regret of his life he reckons.

Anyway, I don't know if I'm making sense. But if you're able to do adv., then do it! I'm doing adv and I'm in Prelim. It's soooooo easy!

No, you can't do standard in Year 11 and then switch to advanced. Preliminary Advanced English is a prerequisite for HSC Advanced English. If you are going to change you have to do it whilst you are still in Prelim.

my school only offers advanced english at the least

even if ppl wanted to do standard or esl they werent allowed to

but from wot i know.. if u do something like 2u maths in year 11
u cant go up to 3 unit in year 12

so mayb wot year 12 is saying is similar~

change whilst u still can its a little more than halfway past prelim course

mite be a tad too late tho~

um no you can still get a 90+ UAI with standard English you just need to do well in other nicely-scaled subjects

i dont know about economics because it;s such a boring subj
and i hardly understand the work in class because the terms
used in textbooks are so technical...
i love biology but a low percentage got band 6
