so Hello Everyone,

Abbotsleigh past papers are actually pretty full-on. Is there anybody here who has finished the HSC or can give good constructive advice on my responses to this Abbotsleigh paper I did? I would appreciate it very much, and I am sure many others will, indirectly, be extremely grateful.

English has caused me a lot of distress last year.

Hey!

I am a tutor and got a band 6 for English Advanced, as well as 97/100 in Trials. I offer affordable, thorough feedback services for English Advanced, Business and SOR1.

I had a quick read of your responses and your analysis and techniques are very well done. The only main thing I suggest directly answering the question in the first sentence of each paragraph. Rather than rewording the question, explicitly state which human experience you are talking about and provide a clear cut answer in the first sentence. This is essentially what allowed me to get 20/20 in this section throughout year 12.

Eg, in question 1, instead of 'the images present the contrast between an individual experience and collective experience,' state what the experiences are, regardless if you mention it after, which you do very well. Starting off with 'These images present the contrast between the individual experience of isolation and internal disorientation, and the collective experience of exhilaration and enjoyment.' This allows you to also tie in your analysis easily.

Again, in question 3, rather than starting off with 'both texts convey the importance of food in the socialising process,' finishing the sentence off with 'as a syndicate for internal liberation and fulfilment.' That way you start off your response with the repercussion of the human experience if that makes sense? Just to show the marker you have it covered.

It's very good to see you are starting papers early, that's the key to getting high marks. Hope this helped in some way. Feel free to contact me if you would like any further assistance, or you would like me to mark something for you :)
