-freedom of picking which subjects you want to do each semester (Er, I think you can do that at other uni's too..? )

There's more flexibility at MQ in this regard as the uni stresses interdisciplinary learning. You can combine accounting and units in philosophy if you wished. At UNSW you'd get 1 or 2 "gen-ed units" instead of allowing you to pick what you want to study.
