    Law at Monash-

If you say so mate - I only work there and happen to know the lecturer who is taking the mid-year intake introduction unit... I'm probably wrong.

    Law at Monash-

Can confirm Dste's notes on the proposed move to Caulfield. I sat in on various faculty consultation meetings with architects over 2008-2009. The university has terminated its agreement with the proposed developer and the faculty will not be moving just yet. Having said that, law still has an...

    Law at Monash-

You have an uphill battle I'm afraid. There is a lot of demand for places in the LLB at Monash and they don't really need to take "risks" with people who have a red flag somewhere on their application. Having said that, you will be able to write a letter to accompany your application for...

    Articled clerkship positions

I know people working at boutique firms in the CBD for $35k-$40k graduate wage - wouldn't be surprised if you ended up on $30k...

    Enrolment Arts/Law

Hi Gmac, If you're still wondering, ordinary Monash units are worth 6 credit points. If your degree requires 192 credit points, you will need to do 32 units, which is 4 years at 4 subjects per semester (like you said).

    monash law externaltransfer

why would you "pray" to not get accepted into something that you applied for - seems somewhat counter-intuitive. If you don't want to go there, you could just... not apply!

No electives in a double degree??

you can do engineering / commerce + diploma of French will add 6-12 months to your degree though.

Job prospects for Deakin v. Monash law graduates?

There were between 32-35 clerks at the firm - I am talking about the December cohort only (Melbourne offices take intakes in July, December and January). I am not saying that one particular clerkship is representative of the entire industry, it's obviously not. As a Monash student I was...

Job prospects for Deakin v. Monash law graduates?

That might have been the case in a better market, but no firm is taking 40 grads at the moment. I just completed a clerkship at a top 3 firm in Melbourne. The breakdown was: 55% uMelbourne 15% Monash 15% uTas 5% uAdelaide 5% uWA 2% La Trobe 2% Deakin

    Med/Law

There is so much rubbish in this thread. Anyway, I have quite a few friends that are just finishing up their Med/Law degree. A couple of them have gone one way or the other, i.e. into law or medicine, and a couple of them have gone to UN/Government/NGOs.

Commerce/Law double degree only one Major?

You can't do two majors at Monash if you're doing a double-degree in Commerce. I set out my course to major in 'Finance' and 'Accounting and Finance' and the course adviser told me that you can't do it like that... so - one major for your commerce degree. But you can do all of the first year...

    Anyone experienced my position?

Happened to me when I got a job at David Jones. It was only because of their incompetence though. Tell them to put you in the next roster (however long the roster period is, usually a week). If they don't do that they are treating you unfairly and you should sit the manager down and tell...

Just wondering if anyone else thinks this is really low...

Complaint about what exactly? They don't HAVE to hire you, even if it's McDonalds. Perhaps you need to reevaluate your resume and presentation before the next interview somewhere else...

Anyone doing Law, Law/Arts, or Arts?

Hey Andrew, You'll make friends with people doing all combinations of Law double-degrees (you will be in the same classes). I'm Michael, you may have seen me at your enrolment lecture... Did you sign up to the mentor program and 1st year camp? You definitely should if you want to meet...

    Ranking For Monash Law School

Well firstly, I think this whole discussion is a waste of effort. The wisest thing said in this thread so far: "All those rankings and numbers are just statistical nonsense." Both Monash and Melbourne Law are considered '1st tier' universities by ALL major employers. There can be slight...

Law marks for a first-year student

Well done on your ENTER and looking forward to seeing you at Monash :) I made the same choice as you did a year ago, doing commerce/law at Monash and I had a great year and met heaps of amazing people, I don't regret the decision at all. That being said, I did absolutely no work at all...

    Giveaways to personality

I like to throw the 'overtake challenge' out there. I don't like explaining jokes to people because it ruins it for everybody. I feel the 'overtake challenge' is a fair opportunity for anybody to convince me to avoid them: You're in a race and you overtake 3rd. What position are you in now...
