    co-op

THe number of co-op positions is directly dependent on the number of sponsors who join in that year. With the GFC and all, it's reduced quite a bit, with some fields much less than others, but the total number of scholarships (comm + engineering combined) is over 100. If you've received an...

Hi, My name is Milton and I am an ex-James Ruse student currently studying a Bachelor of Commerce at UNSW on a Co-op Program Scholarship in Actuarial Studies about to commence my 3rd year. I have had extensive tutoring experience with the entire spectrum of age groups- from primary school...

    Facts about Euler

Euler can win Connect4 in 3 moves. Euler has an Erdos number of -1. God created the integers, all the rest is the work of Euler.

    Facts about Euler

from the Facebook group "We fully acknowledge the True Ultimate Ass-Kicking Power of Leonhard Euler": Leonhard Euler is well known for being the most kick-ass mathematician in recorded history. By 'kick-ass' I don't mean he was the greatest mathematician - we all know that was Gauss - but...

    UNSW Co-op

well main criteria that we are told to look for are: 1. Community involvemnt 2. Academic ability 3. Leadership skills 3. Motivation for actuarial- theres about 16 in 2nd yr and 14 in 1st yr right now. it really depends on how many sponsors are willing to be involved and with the global...

    Probability

assuming the question is interpreted as: he randomly selects 2 balls initially, then given that he randomly chooses one of those 2 balls and reveals it to be red, then the probability of the other ball being red is indeed 1/3 if instead, he randomly selects 2 balls, and reveals that at least...

    10 most elegant mathematics formulas

    well some of the most elegant equations involving pi: e^(i*pi) + 1 = 0 pi/4 = 1 - 1/3 + 1/5 - 1/7 + ... pi^2/6 = 1 + 1/4 + 1/9 + 1/16 + 1/25 + ... pi/2 = (2 * 2 * 4 * 4 * 6 * 6 * 8 * 8 * ...) / (1 * 3 * 3 * 5 * 5 * 7 * 7 * 9 *...) n! --> (2*pi*n)^0.5 * (n/e)^n probably the most...

    Probability Paradox

First of all, I have to point out that theres a difference between impossibility and probability 0 impossibility implies probability 0, but not necessarily the converse flipping a coin and getting heads forever is conceivably possible, but has limiting probability 0 something similar applies...

Am I daydreaming? Handbook says we can do easier maths for 1st year Actuarial Studies

Re: Am I daydreaming? Handbook says we can do easier maths for 1st year Actuarial Stu sure, you could do math1131 , 1141 or even qma, qmb. but that will probably mean you would have a do quite a bit of catching up later on since there IS a reason theres a course specially designed for...

    co op scholarships

there are about 15 companies sponsoring 16 places i would guess (PwC sponsors 2). you'll find out all this on the open day day before your interviews last yr there were about 60 ppl being interviewed, and it seems theres even slightly less applications this yr its true you dont get paid...

    Infinite Product q

What is the limit (if any) of the infinite product (1-1/2)(1-1/4)(1-1/8)(1-1/16)(1-1/32)...(1-2^(-n)) as n-->oo ? It seems to hover around 0.28888, but it might also approach 0 extremely slowly.

HEAPS of questions on Actuarial Studies, PLEASE HELP!

I only have 15hrs a week over 3 days. i heard that at macq u need to go all 5 days and they have 9am starts. but that might have changed for this semester. recommended is 10hrs/subject per week, but thats only if you want to top the course. just a couple of hrs reading textbks and doing qs...

HEAPS of questions on Actuarial Studies, PLEASE HELP!

basically, in my opinion, if u just want to concentrate on actuarial studies, then go to macq, i mean they have been around for 30/40 yrs. however, unsw in general has much better other courses, campus and facilities. you can get part 2 exemptions at unsw, but only if you're doing a combined...

    Probability

Re: 回复: Re: Probability its called conditional probability. you KNOW that there is at least one 5 so the sample space is reduced to 11 (equally likely) outcomes. ignoring information will give you wrong answers

    Acct1501 Final exam study thread

where did u access the 2006 paper? i could only find 2005 and 2004 exams on the unsw library myCourse site. i wonder what the failure rate is for acct1a... i mean, they cant fail too many ppl, can they?

What course should I do, Acturial or science related?

well you've got to think of it as a tradeoff between your genuine interest/passion in the area and the job/career prospects. just getting into an actuarial course doesnt instantly guarantee you a well paid job. in the end, its the ppl who are truly passionate andf love their work who succeed.

    Difficulty of Actuarial Studies

not to mention that most ppl fail at least once in their Part 3 exams apparently in thr US it takes up to a decade of further study after uni to fully qualify

    Maths!!!

Re: Maths!!! A dissertation, much? just a warning for those who are considering ext2: maths x2 is not that hard, but you just have to put in a LOT of effort and work into it. maths will basically take up at least half your workload. as long as you do ok, the insance scaling will guarantee you...
