General Thoughts: Modern History 2008 HSC Exam

Re: Howd you find it? Yeah, I spent a really really long time on Speer (perhaps even TOO much). I gave a shout out to Leni in my Speer essay actually :] commented on how impressive the party rally of '34 was, and its influence in the triumph of the will doco. More or less I argued with...

    Personality question

'St Leo's Catholic College', as 't were A somewhat urbane catholic school (as above) in metro Sydney. How did you place in your grade? I came first, but as you said - and without sounding too arrogant - everyone else was fairly dodgy. I'm poor with exams though. I always do well in orals and...

General Thoughts: Modern History 2008 HSC Exam

Re: Howd you find it? Totally agree, I did the same. Still... Personality part b was just fucked. History is about winners (me) who kill loosers who write crap exam papers.

    Personality question

Of course, I knew there was probably a good reason. I am actually envious of people with large handwriting, as it makes things a whole lot easier to read. Mine is usually tiny, but thankfully got slightly larger for this exam. It did make me feel slightly better, not that I should have done it...

    Personality question

Well aren't you fucking fantastic then! I'm not sure thats exactly what the markers are looking for my friend. Recommended is to fill one booklet, THE ALLOTED SPACE. You did four times what they wanted? It might work out, hey! I don't know... But it will be a bitch to read. Gosh I'm horrible...

General Thoughts: Modern History 2008 HSC Exam

Re: Howd you find it? That exam was good actually (excepting one TINY little part of section three) The core was easy, as ever all the sources were good and allowed for good analysis. Stock standard stuff here pretty much. Section two national studies I did Germany 1918-45, BEST QUESTION...

    Hsc Secrets And Hints!!

Dont be a fuckwit and read notes right before you go in. Drink lots of water when its over. Not during the exam, otherwise you might have to use the bathroom. Always plan and answer the essay first, creative second (no it is NOT the easiest to cut off) and short answer last. STAY TO TIME

Study music - Post bands (or artists)

Led Zepplin is only good study music if you're listening to one of the instrumentals. For me, good study music is something WITHOUT LYRICS. Or with very underipherable lyrics. - Boards of Canada - Air (one of the finest in terms of study) - Portishead - Radiohead (kid A specifically...

    Messy handwriting

Im probably one of the worst here. My teachers have said that my writing is the worst they have ever seen. Im a smart kid, but I just dont care about my writing/ even when I do care (like today) its just appaling. I will murder the markers if they cant fucking read my writing. (AND MY PEN...

    memoir, speech or story?

Story seemed a bit to 'common' for me. I went with memoir, as the conventions worked easily as well for it. Although the text type is a bit harder than a story (for me) I think it'll work out well in the end because I don't think many people did it. Elsewhere worked well also, perhaps as the...

    English Extension II... 2007

Im writing a stream of consciousness tale of a young man (around 16) growing up in post-colonial india. As he is enlightened by a mystic from the neighbouring suburb, he becomes increasingly disillusioned with contemporary society, and becomes an existentialist. He is the most powerful agent in...

    Fahrenheit 451

Fahrenheit 451 is an incredible book. Don't get bogged down in the nitty bits of it, like the storytelling (whether or not you like that is personal) but think about what he contributed! He goes in that classic list... - George Orwell (as ever) - Aldous Huxley - Anthony Burgess - Swift - Joseph...

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - The Beatles

Re: Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds By the way, it is worth noting the difference here between the denoted "L.S.D" standing for Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, and the drug, also LSD, because people are taking the wrong meaning.

imaginative journey (THE MATRIX & ALICE IN WONDERLAND)

Yah, I'm doing them both. I havent analysed them as of yet... However, there is a clear link in 'Alice in wonderland', yet not in the matrix so much. I mean it is there, its just harder for me to atriculate it using my thesis. I cant see how neo speculates upon anything by 'going down the rabbit...

OH! and ASDFGHJKL, those were some brilliant suggestions! Just about the most comprehensive guide I've seen so far! And! update! Today mr year co-ordinator had me read out my english paper to her. It sounded shit, and I kept stumbling because I couldnt read it, so now I will probably get a...

    Prelimenary failure...

It's a combination of the two really... I will use it to study, but getting it, and using it every day will make me more eager to study Sounds silly I know! Actually, You know what it is? its exams! I know everything outside of them, walk in the door and self annihilate. (whoops! I'm doing...

    Prelimenary failure...

I supose I could do with a few more asian friends... But if you mean the whole hanging around smart kids makes you resultantly smarter, then no. I already do that, and it doesnt work. They are too competitive, they totally dedicate themselves to school. A normal person cannot compete with that...

    Prelimenary failure...

Often I am told that prelim does not matter aside from your end of term report and rankings etc... I however, am what many people would call a skeptic. Well not skeptic, I know they dont count for anything more than this year, BUT what I am worried about is how I am going to cope next year...
