    NGO & Sons or Matrix?

I have taught at one for 8 years and interviewed for the other. I can confidently say even though the teachers at Ngo and Sons may not have the same credentials as those advertised at Matrix, they have trained to a very high standard. Ngo and Sons emphasises rules and technique over everything...

what mark would you realistically need to be a 1 on 1 tutor for any hsc subject

Chris is right, its not about your marks as much as your ability to explain questions to students. I have sat on both sides of the hiring board for new tutors. I have seen some really smart students struggle to simplify simple questions and I have also seen aspiring teachers tackle projectile...

Is it worth revising/studying the Maths Advanced content if I'm taking Ext 2?

Definitely, you'll need to be comfortable (if not very good) at the concepts in 2U. Think of integration in 2U and then doing a harder version in 4U.

    best past papers 3u

When I did the HSC, I used to do a Sydney Grammar and James Ruse quite a bit. Otherwise, HSC from earlier years (pre new syllabus) have some good questions that are still relevant today.

    permutation + combinations help PLEASE!

I remember this question! When doing permutations and combinations, a good technique is to sit people down one at a time and consider the number of options they have. We first sit the picky people. Let's sit the four people (A, B, C, D) that want to sit on a particular side. On that particular...

    best hsc chemistry/4u tutoring

For HSC chemistry, give Sigma Science a try! Chris is very knowledgable and I personally went to his classes when I was a student long time ago. For 4U maths, come give us a try : ) We've each been teaching for 8 years and our classes are capped at 8 students. Give us a ring at 02 9059 8263 and...

How do I get better at Math?

Keep practicing past papers and when that gets too easy, try to do them under exam conditions. You can do it!

I can't speak for others but I'll let you in with our results. We've been teaching since 2016 and our students have achieved 5 state ranks in Mathematics. looking for a physics and 4u math tutor/tutoring centres.

I'd say come give us a try for 4U, we've been teaching for over 8 years now. Our classes are quite a bit smaller than traditional tutoring centres. Give us a call at (02) 9059 8263 and we can arrange you a class : )

Is it possible for me to state rank

I think rank 1 helps but its not a prerequisite. (Source: I was rank 3 doing accelerated 2U and got 5th in state). I do get that you're worried that your school might drag you down. I'd just say that its out of your control and as long as you try your hardest, you can make it :)

HSC Maths Ext. 1 & 2 Online Tutoring | Combined ~15 years of experience

Chris is the GOAT. I still can't believe he remembers us going to Green Valley 8 years ago. Just goes to shows how much he cares about his students

    Mechanics

Definitely, lets come back to simple terms. What's period? We know the period is the time it takes for a particle to return back to its original position. It also happens that SHM are sin/cos curves. So the question is really how do we find the time it takes a sin/cos curve to return to its...

    time management in exams

Don't think about the pink elephant. I can almost bet you thought of the pink elephant. I wish I could tell you (and all my students) to not think about time. However, that'll just make you more conscious of the time and stress you out. I had the same problem too when I was in HSC. Staring at...

    State Ranks in Maths

I'd like to blame my handwriting for coming 5th and not 1st : ) But honestly I write like a doctor without the credentials unfortunately.

    State Ranks in Maths

No worries, I can definitely understand since there's a lot of myths around school mark. So after the HSC exam, you'll receive three marks 1. Exam mark - This is a scaled mark based on how you went on the day. 2. School mark - This mark, contrary to popular belief, is not a scaled/moderated...

    Mechanics

I'm going to stab in the dark and assume this is simple harmonic motion. Let me know if it is not. 1. The SHM formula is y = a\cos\left(nx + \alpha\right). The formula you mentioned is for finding the period. In that formula, n is the number infront of x. 2. You are absolutely right that...

how to study all of math advanced topics in 1 week?

I would hope this is a hypothetical situation ... In any case, focus on past papers and learn the questions that you are most likely to be tested on. A week is a decent time to learn (ask me how I know from uni) but it can be really crushing the first couple days when every question in the...

    State Ranks in Maths

Speaking from personal experience as someone who state ranked 2U in 2015 (I realised that's almost 10 years ago...), my marks were HSC - 100 Exam - 100 School - 100 However, I knew walking out of the test that I got one question wrong. This means my raw exam mark was 99 which then got scaled to...

If you have the time, go through any questions where you took shortcuts or made assumptions and try to work on them from first principles.
