    General Thoughts: Physics

How do you propose the graph looks then, your logic says it should start flat (at each asymptote), get less flat and then suddenly go flat again that doesn't ring with me. I understand your logic about the trolley sticks out on each side of the field though, but I can't mathematically accept it...

    General Thoughts: Physics

I've just read through this and seen all your arguments about that motion trolley question and I don't agree with any of your drawings (not that I'm an expert by any means, but I think I at least understand this.) Firstly, as many people have already explained, it definitely doesn't accelerate...

    Extension 2 BOS Trial 2015 Results/Documents

Can I just ask what time the paper/solutions are being released, because I'm keen to give this a crack tomorrow? Even like if just the test paper was released tomorrow and solutions the next day. It's just that I want to try this but am sure it would be a good idea the day before I do the 4u exam

    Silly mistakes >:(

If you have time at the end of the test its always worthwhile redoing arithmetic-heavy questions to see if you made a mistake. Also simple tricks like differentiating expressions you have just integrated, recombining the partial fraction you just split up etc. reduce the time it takes to filter...

    100% in 4u maths?

Hang on, my understanding was that if you were ranked first internally (which I would imagine most state rankers would be, unless the person that beat them is also a state ranker), then your external mark was made the same as your internal mark (assuming you also rank first externally.) Am I...

    100% in 4u maths?

What I fail to understand is how there could not be ties. When you say "smallest of margins," isn't the smallest of margin just 1 raw mark? Meaning that say if there were 10 ranks, and everyone gets 95-99, there should be at least 3 people on the same mark in some cases. Now you would assume...

    100% in 4u maths?

Back to the original topic here what raw mark do you think state rank students get in the HSC exams? I mean obviously it varies but would anyone have an idea what's sorta standard?

    Official BOS Trial 2015 Thread

You have to make another expression with only x and y in it (remove the parameter t) then let y = 0 (cause thats what range defines, position of x at y = 0), then you apply your method

    Quick complex numbers problem

you substitute the values of a and b back to the original equation, x^2 - x + 2 =0. Then you use the quadratic formula to find Im(x) = +-root(7)/2. From here we know that beta (q^3 + q^5 + q^6) must be the case with the negative imaginary values, by the nature of the way we go around the unit...

    ATAR estimate please

Sweet, thanks guys. Anyone else have an opinion?

    ATAR estimate please

So basically my ranks are: English Advanced (52/137) Chemistry (3/72) Physics (4/54) Extension 1 Maths (2/48) Extension 2 Maths (1/20) My school ranked 8th last year but tbh I think it'll do a little worse this year. Thanks in advanced :)
