    ATAR Estimate Please!!

Hi :) I would really appreciate an ATAR estimate. School rank is 85-90. Ranks are as follows: English Advanced 13/38 (school comes in top 10 for Advanced English because small class) Business Studies 8/34 Economics 4/11 Legal Studies 9/22 Modern History 6/16 Thanks for your time!

Calculating WAM - Do they round-up decimals for final course marks?

Hi all, I did a course without a final exam this sem, and received a total of 84.225. In the past, I've had an 84.5 rounded up to an 85, but I was wondering whether .225 would be rounded down to 84 or up to 85? Not that it really matters, just curious Thanks so much!

    Attention law students

    1) When you are deciding whether to study law, think about both the immediate and long-term context. I enjoyed legal studies and debating, I enjoyed essay writing and problem solving, and I also like reading. I'm in third year, and so far law has turned out to be nothing like legal studies. We...

    UNSW S1/18 Result Thread

Hey everyone! I am mathematically challenged, and have a question about the stream declaration thing. I only did three subjects this sem, and my stream dec was at .5 a few days ago. It has since jumped to .822, but I'm pretty sure that isn't accurate based on my shitty performance in the third...

    Need university advice!

Hi! I am in my third year of Arts/Law at UNSW. I can appreciate how you feel because I started off with Commerce and found it ok, but wasn't super passionate. I bit the bullet halfway through my second year and transferred to Arts and am much happier, even though I know I lost time and money, I...

Question about science electives with a double degree

Hi! I am considering combining a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) with my Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing). As the psychology major is 78 UOC, I was wondering if the 18 UOC I have to choose for science electives can also be psychology courses that are not part of the major, e.g. PSYC1025...

Buying e-books rather than the physical textbook???

Hi! So throughout the HSC I used the ebook of my textbooks because I hate lugging heavy shit around and prefer to just search for words I need rather than reading pages of information. The e-books are a lot cheaper (like $40-$90) than the physical textbooks, but I'm wondering if there are any...

    A 97+ ATAR with these subjects?/what should I drop & swap?

Hi there! :) 1) Honestly, the ranking of your school in the state matters so much more than subject scaling. That being said, PDHPE doesn't scale well at all, but Modern History doesn't scale you up like ext maths does. Choose subjects you enjoy because they are 99% of the time the subjects you...

I'm struggling with economics!!! PLS HELP!!

my eco teacher was absolutely awful as well, we spent like 4 weeks on the last topic which is the biggest. I got a tutor and ended up coming first for every assessment, but it wasn't easy. I ended up with an 89 in the HSC -- its hard because some students in your class will struggle more than...

UNSW - First Year Student 2016!

I'm doing a double of Commerce/Arts! :) Criminology sounds so interesting, is it researching criminal behaviour and stuff? O-week sounds like a lot of fun, I'm still 17 though so I wont be able to go to half the night events which sucks so bad. Does anyone know if older students get involved in...

    February Round Offers

You have to meet the cut-off for commerce (96.3 in 2015, 97 guaranteed entry in 2016) to do commerce/engineering or you will not get an offer. See if you can get any bonus points (HSC Plus). Good luck!

    Double degree timetable???

This might be a really stupid question, but I just want to double check now. In a double degree of Commerce/Arts in Semester 1 would I have to do 2 commerce subjects and 2 arts subjects? I'm aiming to transfer to Commerce/Law and want to use Commerce/Arts to fall back on in case I don't get in...

Transferring from UNSW Commerce to USYD Commerce/Law??

So I am going to do Commerce (International) at UNSW next year, but I do want to transfer to law. However, UNSW is introducing this new law entrance exam in 2017 which is making me nervous (unsure if I will pass it because I have no idea what it will involve). I am stuck between 2 options...

    Questions about Commerce (International)

So I received guaranteed entry into commerce (international) but after reading a few old threads on here I am reconsidering :( 1. Do you have to learn a language? People have been giving mixed answers, but I definitely do not want to learn a new language (heard that it screws up your WAM). If...

    Major work suggestions

I did Russia for my nationality study, Trotsky for my personality and Conflict in Europe and you definitely cannot do your 3 last suggestions if those are your units. You could possibly look at pre-revolutionary Russia (although this is looked at in prelim if I remember correctly), but you...

Can I still get 97 ATAR???

You can definitely still achieve that goal, especially considering the first assessments have such a low weighting. For me, the HSC was a lot harder than prelim, and everyone becomes a lot more competitive and tries a lot harder (especially in the better ranked schools). I never dropped below 90...
