Why is the average velocity of the particles greater in 1 mole of hydrogen gas at 25

Re: Why is the average velocity of the particles greater in 1 mole of hydrogen gas at Temperature correlates to the average kinetic energy (KE) of the particles. KE = 1/2 mv^2 (from physics) If m (mass) is lower, v (velocity) is higher for some temperature i.e. fixed KE

How does the law of conservation of momentum apply to the motion of the rocket?

I may be wrong, but I believe BOSTES would allocate one mark to stating the definition of the law of conservation of momentum.
  10. Q

Which is bigger 1002/1003 or 1003/1004 show without a calculator?

    1002/1003 = 1 - 1/1003 1003/1004 = 1 - 1/1004 clearly, 1/1004 < 1/1003 therefore 1003/1004 > 1002/1003

explain the concept of escape velocity

Yes I put quotation marks around 'escaping' because I was using the definition I provided in the previous line. It means to reach a point of zero (negligible) gravitational attraction to a massive body. What do I mean by without further propulsion? I can launch a spacecraft directly upwards...
  18. Q

explain the concept of escape velocity

Quite lengthy... I prefer to explain it as: Definition: Escape velocity is the minimum initial speed required for an object to have zero (negligible) gravitational attraction to a massive body without further propulsion (i.e. the object would have 0 KE and 0 GPE after 'escaping' the...
