what time do you wake up? I go to bed between 11pm-1am cos people operate on sleep cycles which last for 90min - when you wake up just as your cycle ends, you'll be feeling less sluggish/sleepy when compared to being woken in the middle of deep sleep :)

But as I child I spent all my time talking in Japanese to my mother. I mean, she still talks to me in jap 70% of the time. My point is that English is easily learnt, while chinese/jap/etc is not - so best to start with that one.
