    Properties of metals

    Great suggestions! =D
  2. DInfinity

So our school picked Forensic Chemistry...

Damnit, I'm pretty sure we're doing industrial chem as our option D:

    Chem Calculations

    Ok, I probably got this all messed up, but I had a go at it xD \Delta H = nC\Delta T n is the number of moles reacted C is the specific heat capacity T is temerature \Delta H = \frac{1}{8000} \times 4.2 \times (24.1-23.2) \Delta H = \frac{1}{8000} \times 4.2 \times 0.9 \Delta H = 4.725 \times...

    Properties of metals

Makes you wonder what she did during science in the junior years xD

    gravimetric analysis

It's good to use your brain every once in a while =/ What do you think can be taken out without much effort on your part? What comes out when you open the can? We can't be answering every question you have, it's not good for you in the long run xD
  6. DInfinity

    gravimetric analysis

I already said the soft drink, in fact, my class is doing that right now, and it's a perfectly viable option. If you really want to to seawater, then just get a container, fill it with water, chuck in an unknown amount of NaCl and some sand/dirt/dead seaweed. Then do the gravimetric analysis...

    gravimetric analysis

Uh... the beach where there is seawater? If you do not have a precise electronic balance, I suggest you get one from somewhere. Two decimal places might not be precise enough to get good results, so try get one with as many places as you can.
  8. DInfinity

    gravimetric analysis

Seawater composition, soft drink composition etc. You can do almost anything provided you have the right stuff to do precise measurements with.

    up to date?

Of course! We haven't even chosen our option topic yet xD My school loves to screw with the line I have chem on D:
  10. DInfinity

    Dialysate??

Just salts such as sodium chloride, calcium chloride, potassium chloride etc. and glucose dissolved in water.

    Learning to Answer Questions

Underline the key verbs, know what they are asking, and stick to that if you feel as if you write too much. Personally, I like having one hour+ left over to pad out my answer in case the bare minimum I had before doesn't get me the full marks, or to check over the entire exam. Usually, the...

    up to date?

We're about one or two weeks into genetics right now. [Edit: Sorry for bumping up a relatively old thread, but nobody answered the OP's question xD]
  13. DInfinity

A couple of Multiple Choice Questions - Help Please :)

HSC biology student here. We learned about those ions when we did kidney function in Maintaining a Balance. However, we didn't really focus on which ones were positive and which ones were negative. I too, answered with chemistry knowledge xD
  14. DInfinity

    The Fiftieth Gate

I was actually looking forward to module C, and then they dumped this crap on us.
  15. DInfinity

Do you actually enjoy the subjects you do?

I like everything except for English... And it's the only compulsory one too... T_T
  16. DInfinity

    General maths.

I sincerely hope you are joking. (it's +2 and -2)
  17. DInfinity

    How hard will it get?

According to my math teacher, circular motion is the hardest topic in MX2, so use that as a means of gauging the difficulty. It's more or less working out stuff about objects traveling in circles =/
  18. DInfinity

    Experiment Write up?

It is useful for processes that are rather complicated (such as extraction of aluminium from bauxite). It gives a clearer represenation of what is happening and the products. Wouldn't hurt to know how to do. I think we had a question like that in our prelim half-yearly, not too sure on that one...

    Which enzyme prac?

I've only done the pH and temperature prac (substrate concentration prac is for our assessment task). However, pH is faster and less dangerous in my opinion. The amount I wrote for both pracs in the discussion was about the same. The down side is, pH is rather easy to screw up. Temperature on...

    question about enzymes

Most likely some from the following: Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Sulfur.
