    dividing by 2 implies you can have john first then barbara or barbara first then john. the qn states john goes thru after barbara, that means barbara first then john so how can the 2 swap.

    Circular motion question

    I think i understand it now. When N=0 the bridge previously supporting it is no longer there, so the car will fall. But since its accelerating forward, the car will fall while moving forward. Hence a circular like motion. At least i think it works like that. Thanks for the help really...

    Well the forces radially is mg=mv^2/r+N If N=0 then mg=mv^2/r Does this mean that a particle moving in a circle will only move if weight is equal to centripedal force?? totally lost Any thoughts? (btw answer to part 1 is 3400N)

    I keep hearing that rankings are more important than the actual marks, is this really true and if so how its actually used in scaling. Also lets say your marks are pretty average (say 60%) but you manage to achieve 1st rank, what does this mean in terms of scaled marks in comparative to a 80%...
