The best thing to do is to pick one and then use your electives to do the first three subjects of the other. Both those subjects have postgraduate options so if you don't get enough in your undergrad, you can always do more.
If you have EAS, I understand that is usually on top of the ATAR so you should be fine unless the ATAR increases this year. UTS Communication does not give bonus points for particular subjects.

Now, I would say this but . . . you can always do the combined journalism/law degree at UTS, which is fabulous. You get to try the best of both worlds and see what you really enjoy doing. The HECS debt shouldn't worry you - you only have to pay it back when you start earning. Hope to see you at...
UTS has its advisory day tomorrow so why don't you come in and talk to people there about what the options are? Also, the people at UAC will have some advice as well. Please don't worry - there is a way into tertiary education for you!
