they can't ask you to 'prove' it's your own work, because how does that work? it's fucking english, it's not like you can print out all the research you did. they'd be the ones who would need to have sufficient evidence of you plagiarising. and since you didn't, they won't...
I know someone who managed to get one through UTS (he got 96.xx for his UAI) actually, i'm pretty sure his first day was today.
apparently it's pretty selective, the UAI you'll need will depend on what university you want to do the cadetship through. you also need to do a fuckload of interviews.
Our class does something kind of similar. We don't do it with essays, but with notes. Each person is given a particular character/theme/plot to focus on, writes 2 typed pages of tight, succint notes and analysis, and then my teacher photocopies them and distributes them to the class where we go...
