nah, might do it next yr, but i can't really take 4 more years of uni, i've already done 3 1/2, with another 1 1/2 to go

    science major

I have friends doing physics honours and apparently the physics staff there work hard through incentive schemes to ensure that a lot of students end up doing Phd's.

    science major

That's usually only the case for people who have atleast an honours in science or a double degree in say science/commerce or science/engineering. Top investment banks like JP Morgan or Macquarie Bank won't hire u unless u have a well-rounded academic background and that includes a double degree...

The USYD 'Get Fat and Fail' thread

If you do science you'll get your marks back next week. Traditionally, chem marks get released next monday and maths marks next wed/thursday and physics on wed. If you do commerce, you'll get most of your marks back next week from around next tuesday-thursday.

    science major

Applied maths is the best major of them all along with financial maths. It gives you solid analytical skills that are useful to any job, and it's well respected cause not many people can stick it out for 3 years doing hardcore maths. Chemistry is also a good major to get if u are that way...

    People doing Sci (Adv)/Commerce

Workload wise, sci(adv)/'comm is very heavy in the first 3 years, but once u knock over science, ur hours per week literally halve as you are just finishing off comm, and it's a walk in the park. You've just got to be efficient in the way that u study in the course. Generally most ppl who do...

    Masters by Coursework

I know what ur saying but if overqualification were such a big problem then ppl with phd's or doctorates would be unemployed, which is hardly the case. Even if u were overqualified there's nothing to say u can't take a 'lower job' . U would also have a greater competitive advantage. At school u...

    Masters by Coursework

I plan to work in the financial/stockbroking/investment/superanuation area with firms like macquarie bank or the RBA. From what I've heard from friends applying to these places like macquarie bank, u really need to have an honours or masters degree to get noticed and have a chance. Atm i've...

    Masters by Coursework

Yeah the "overqualification" aspect was something i was a little concerned about, and the problem of not having enough practical work experience to work in a job u are qualified for by transcript. At the end of this year I get a B science(adv maths) and am trying to weigh up whether to...

    Masters by Coursework

Hey guys, just interested to to see what ppl's opinions are on a commerce masters by coursework versus a commerce bachelor's degree. The only disadvantage of a masters i can think of is the cost which is around 20K over 1 and a half years if u manage to get some subject exemptions. Apart from...

    Micro...

haha no u don't, u don't have to go to the lectures :) i had him last year for micro and found him to be the worst lecturer, he seriously can't teach.

    switching tutes

U usually have to get timetable changes officially sorted out at the student centre so it would be best to see them tomorrow. U can usually change tuts without even needing any permission at all, unless of course the tut is full in numbers.

VSU Emergency Rally - Tommorow (Wed 16th)

I think the general idea of paying compulsory fees (they could be much much lower though) is a good thing to support all the services available on campus, the problem is that there are too many people abusing the system, especially the extremist political activists and evangelical societies...

Just remember that u only have one more day to make any timetable changes.
