    A Question of Christian Theology

I said they aren't necessarily immoral, meaning sexual desire and selfishness are entirely compatible with a moral position. They are also compatible with immoral acts, as in the examples you mentioned. An extremely small minority frequently display violent tendencies. Do you honestly believe...

Rudd plans to lower voting age to 16

Way to miss the point entirely. If you admittedly aren't well informed about political matters, why do you keep posting your stupid views in NCAP?

    AFI- Crash Love

Also, Miss Murder is one of the worst songs in their entire discography.

    AFI- Crash Love

Yeah DU isn't as good as Sing the Sorrow but it has some fantastic tracks. Art of Drowning is their best IMO.

    AFI- Crash Love

So you mean Decemberunderground was downhill?

    AFI- Crash Love

Anyone else heard this yet? After a few listens, I'm quite impressed. No electronics at all, so a marked departure from DU. It's definitely much more pop-oriented than STS and their earlier stuff though. Favourite songs so far- Sacrilige Cold Hands Medicate Darling, I want to destroy you. I'm...

    A Question of Christian Theology

There is nothing about either selfishness or sexual desire that is necessarily immoral. As for violence I don't think we can all agree that it is a tendency inherent in humans (that claim is particularly questionable as it applies to women). Religious adherents always seem to assume the worse...

Rudd plans to lower voting age to 16

A completely worthless contribution. Thank you.

Rudd plans to lower voting age to 16

Okay. Please explain how voluntary voting results in only extremists having a say in political matters. You also might want to explain how such a system elected a president with very similar views to our own prime minister. Why should an individual be forced by the government to vote? Doesn't...

Rudd plans to lower voting age to 16

That is a completely ridiculous statement for so many reasons.

Rudd plans to lower voting age to 16

This doesn't change when they turn 18. It's also true for the majority of Australian adults. The voting age should be lowered to 16, but it should be made voluntary for all.

Are there any Christian teenagers out there??

Are you one of the those ones that's fine with anal before marriage? If so, I know some people.

    A Question of Christian Theology

If something is evil and worthy of punishment, doesn't there have to be some element of choice in the matter? If so, you are saying that every human has the choice to be a sinner or not, and all of them in the entirety of human history has chosen the path of sin- even devoted christians. Your...

    The Rationale of Religion

Are you fully aware of what you are suggesting as an alternative? A being which for some reason is exempt from meeting the standards by which you reject evolution. You claim that the universe is far too complex to have come about entirely through natural processes. Your solution to this is a...

What is the moral justification for the state?

Er, that's not me. Unless his name is also Stephen. edit: Haha, oh shit I thought that was a confused McCain quote I was replying to. Will edit. edit2: Turns out it was him, just had your username instead of his in the quote for some reason :spzz:

What is the moral justification for the state?

Oh of course, the social contract! Just like a regular contract, except without mutual consent, or the ability to negotiate terms. Also the party in control of the contract isn't obliged to consistently fulfill its supposed responsibilities, which it can change at any point. That, and its a...

What is the moral justification for the state?

Why not? How can wealth be redistributed on a large scale without bureaucracy? If it can't, why doesn't the huge workforce required to inefficiently maintain a system of inefficiency change the equation substantially? All government intervention is inefficient and lowers productivity. These...

What is the moral justification for the state?

Because rights to health and welfare don't exist. Ignoring how vague those two terms are, individuals must be ultimately responsible for obtaining the resources necessary to maintain a given standard of living for themselves. The enforcement of these 'rights' creates a complementary obligation...
