i'm not 100% sure what a gap year entails, do you reserve your course for next year if you get an offer or do you apply through UAC again the next year?

do we need to know alot on the case study or can we just be like

hey my year is pretty small, like 40 people. Do rankings really matter with a school that small?, so say your ranked 5/8 in a subject but every one is within say 8% of each other will the 4th person get scaled alot more than the fifth if the 4th is on 80 and the 5th is on 79?
im thinking of doing the flexible first year or nanotechnology. i think im more interested in nanotechnology but i don't want to restrict myself, if i did flexible first year and realize i should have done nano would the year be a waste of time?
