Is smacking a child ever acceptable?

But regardless, in such a case where a child does not abide an authoritative figure - which can be the parents - what actions can be taken once all logical, rational and reasonable avenues are exhausted?

less than 8 hours to study

It's better to sleep then force yourself up with some V. I was like half-sleeping/tired once after like two hours of sleep and I sipped some V and it kickstarted me, I was wide awake. Good luck man!

less than 8 hours to study

Eh, if you're desperate you can go chew on instant coffee powder or something, or my favourite letter of the alphabet, V! :D Actually, sleeping isn't a bad idea either, you need to have a fresh mind. Every time I did an all-nighter I was twitchy and easily distracted/amused.

Is smacking a child ever acceptable?

Well obviously you shouldn't inflict too much damage, but really, what can you do? My situation I presented earlier was like this, I tutored primary schools kids awhile ago when I had free time on my hands. This one kid would not listen to a thing I was saying, wouldn't sit down, wouldn't pay...

    What do you guys think?

Isn't servicing/insurance going to send you to the poorhouse? With those criteria, there aren't many alternatives. :S I'm indifferent about the car, it's alright.

Is smacking a child ever acceptable?

Sometimes there are cases where people may genuinely want to resort to physical punishment, but it's a last resort. I can recall several instances where I have done everything possible to try and get a kid to do something, yet he refused to and was being a smartass. I was so close to snapping...

    Am I allowed?

If you feel that it sets the scene and adds a sense of reality to your story, then feel free to do so, not for the sake of telling the markers you're not scared of using slang terms.

Confused about the "offers" on UAC

I think that's the Main Round, it's usually after the Universities have their last open day which is in the first few days of January. Like we find out out ATAR's on December 16th, so we have up until the Main Round offers close, on 6th January.

What underwear will you be wearing to the HSC Exams

Confused about the "offers" on UAC

In special circumstances, students of high academic achievement are sometimes given university offers before the HSC, but they would have gotten the score anyway. I can't really cite any sources, but I think it's true from what I've heard around, it would make sense too as offers are what they...

How many people in the state do Ext 1 English?

Only? That's not a lot. I'm curious too, about the breakdown of how many people do which option. Crime Fiction stats anyone? :p

Start of HSC Thoughts: Motivated? Not Motivated?

Re: 2010'ers - We Are The New Decade That's the perfect attitude, why couldn't I be like this, this time last year. LOL. >.<" I still had the Year 11 "ahaha whatever" mindset until after the December holidays.

Start of HSC Thoughts: Motivated? Not Motivated?

Re: 2010'ers - We Are The New Decade But if you have the top mark, you'll have the top rank. :p The school sends in the marks and you just get "ranked" in descending order.
