How does admission work? If I get the required ATAR, but I do not have prior knowledge of the Ext 1 Maths course, would I still be considered for admission?

I'm considering studying biomedical engineering at Usyd and was wondering how hard the maths is. I am not doing Ext 1 Maths and am wondering if I would be able to cope with the maths. I am in year 11 and I am averaging about ~85-90 in maths. Thanks!

Also, if I were to receive an ATAR under 91 or whatever the cut-off will be, will the university consider me for flexible entry if I haven't done Ext 1 Maths, seeing that they will only consider flexible entry based on results of relevant subjects to the course?

And these are all topics that are relevant to mathematics in engineering, I presume? Also, is it recommended that I take a bridging course? Others have said that the bridging courses are a waste of time and money. Is this true?

But wouldn't this make my timetable for Uni extremely congested? I've seen timetables with 32 hour weeks and they don't even have this fundamentals course.

Do you think that an average 2U student like I am will be able to cope with the level of engineering maths? What happens if I fail maths ?!!! EDIT: And thanks for all the help guys!

Sorry I meant will I be able to get an appropriate ATAR based on my subjects? I've been hearing from others that it'd be pretty hard for me to get a 90+ ATAR with those subjects. Is it true?
