    so who's doing History Extension?

cmk, Did you attend Sefton? Those stats are pretty similar to the ones at Sefton, which has had a great record in achieving highly in history extension. My modern history teacher teaches it, and he's awesome. At my school we do appeasement. So yeah, it sounds interesting.

    The necessity to make notes?

They're pretty important, I think. I've always made notes and it was something from year seven study skills classes that I learned. I think it's important to rewrite things in your own words because it reinforces your learning and personally, when I finish a set of notes, and punch holes...

Text Types We Need to Know for English HSC

Rofl. Yeah. I've also found feature articles to be rather lame because it's just an essay hidden under the guise of a "funny, warm, conversational" kind of piece. Who the hell writes about language techniques in feature articles? LOL.

    All you wanna be lawyers...

Well all jobs have risks. And before you go into court battle for your client, you would have evaluated his/her chances of winning/getting a good deal in terms of punishment and you would have been confident in winning. Though if he/she gave you loads and loads of money... but that's another...

Text Types We Need to Know for English HSC

^ Hahahahahahaha. That's funny. Hmmm. I guess it'd be a good idea to look at these text types again lol. LottoX, you said that they don't really specifiy text-types... hmm, well, does a question with "discuss" mean that we have to write a discussion? I'm confused.

yrs 9/10, what were ur exp. investigations for Science?

I did mine... on... FEMALE MEMORY VS MALE MEMORY. I got 29/30 for it, but females ended up destroying the boys. LOL.

Help needed with trig identities. (Or: My god, maths is a freaking nightmare)

Thank you, Without Wings :) Yeah, trig identities used to annoy my brains out, but once I got the hang of it I started to like them more. I think that compound angles and trig equations are more annoying, because in trig identities, you always look to multiply things which will leave you with a...

Text Types We Need to Know for English HSC

Hey, I was just looking through some past English papers and trials and whatnot, and I found that Advanced English is not all essay writing. Of course, the bulk is essay writing, then there are short stories. But what other text types might examiners ask us to write? I think I saw a feature...

Help needed with trig identities. (Or: My god, maths is a freaking nightmare)

Umm. In the future, please place brackets around your terms because if I didn't correctly deduce where your terms went, I wouldn't have been able to figure them out. Anyway, for the first one... 1 1 ----------------- - ---------------------...

Career Choices: What do you want to do in uni/tafe/the workforce? (merged)

Re: Career Choices: What do you want to do in uni/tafe/the workforce? My mum desperately wants me to be a pharmarcist. I don't. =)

    Term 2 Holiday Discussion!

Congrats on that great mark! For me I did Yitzhak Rabin. The assessment was based on two sections: a speech in the persona of your chosen leader and then a written report. I got 10/10 for the speech :D but haven't received the reports yet. And about the Rwandan Genocide - have you watched...

what exactly is 'a reading of a novel'?

Hey Mudcake, A "reading" refers to applying some literary theories (though they do not have to be strictly applied in a literal sense; for example, Marxism can be both used to describe the ideas of Karl Marx, but can also be a "reading" also) that can be seen through texts. For example...

Career Choices: What do you want to do in uni/tafe/the workforce? (merged)

Re: Career Choices: What do you want to do in uni/tafe/the workforce? I very much disagree with the idea that most people go into medicine for the big bucks. The truth is, to study medicine and to be a doctor able to practise independently, you will need to have had at least, at least 11-15...

Extension courses for year 12? And what are you dropping?

Picking up MX2, EE2 and history extension. And dropping bio. (can't wait :D) I'll see how I cope with the extensions... I'll drop if I can't cope =)

help to me? & special needs

Re: help to me? So it's a reflection? It will depend on what your teacher is like. Does he/she like funny, insightful entries or is he/she more like someone interested in the techniques and stuff about texts you've learnt? It comes down to that. But I would try to make it personalised...

Career Choices: What do you want to do in uni/tafe/the workforce? (merged)

Re: Career Choices: What do you want to do in uni/TAFE/the workforce? I'm actually looking to do one of three courses: a) Medicine/Arts(English) at UNSW b) Medicine/Arts or medical science/science at USYD (that's if I get a 99.95UAI...) c) Medicine/Law at Monash. I just found out about this...

    Term 2 Holiday Discussion!

Write study notes for maths, chem, modern history and perhaps English. Do maths holiday homework. Write chemistry pracs. Bio homework. Read two novels (in total, 1300-1400 pages! :|) for AEng and XEng.

    Essay Style

No. In all essays, you write in paragraphs. A large part of the mark you receive for most essays is your form, so if you did dot points like that you won't get full marks.

    english... help. please.

I believe that the value would be "equality". You have just elaborated on this value and said why it relates to your text. :) And yeah, a value is a belief or principle that the composer expresses. Hope that helps!
