James Ruse are cheaters and the BOS do not care.

I cant really comment on them being taught HSC course stuff before they are allowed. But, I do know one reason why they go well in some subjects! The thing is with them, in Maths Ext2 for example, they are taught specific ways of solving problems over and over again.. If you give something...

Is 2 unit maths good enough for engineering civil???

Maths in engineering for the first year at UTS is pretty simple (if you goto the lectures and dont get pissed at the unibar...) First semester can be a little overwhelming, but half of the second semester is statistics (General maths stuff!) You should be fine if you are confident with your...

    Weird course choices

Nah mate Did my 3 year Nanotechnology degree Did my 1 year Grad Dip Ed (Cuz i got a scholarship :)) -- Hell you have probably seen me on posters and in ads in newpapers and magazines and crap cuz i did promotional stuff for the Department about teaching scholarships and had like a billion...

Does a good performance inHSC maths and science ensure good performance in University

First semester of my Science degree was basically high school level stuff When you get to second year and you start looking at quantum technology, applicatons of quantum mechanics, Schrödinger's equation, Fourier series, well basically.. If you dont find it interesting.. you wont study and you...

    Weird course choices

Guys, dont freak out if you didnt do something in highschool that you are doing in uni. I did my HSC in 2001 With English (std), Maths, Maths Ext 1, Phys, Chem, PDHPE and Studies of religion 1 unit Did my B.Sc Did my GradDip Ed Now im doing my Masters in Business whilst working full time and...

    Projectile Motion Prac Question.

One thing i suppose you whould realise is that veloity is of course a vector. Initially, the ball is travelling downwards (assuming you launched it at at a certain angle of depression) After the bounce the ball is travelling upwards? Hence different velocity Or is it assuming that it is at...

    Best physics textbook?

I have made my school buy Jacaranda and have found it to be pretty decent Other books i mainly use for my Senior class are: Physics in Context (the OLD version with the old syllabus) Spotlight (Mainly for questions) Surfing Macquarie some Dot Point (But so many answers and explanations are...

Are you only doing physics to get into engineering?

neg maths = meaningless numbers physics = meaningful numbers :D

    Maths 4U - Failing Percentage!!!

Nah mate, not true. Your position relative to others will determine the mark you get for your moderated assessment mark. Example: These are some raw assessment marks for some school: 1. John - 93% 2. Tim - 78% 3. Joe - 69% And these are their exam results: 1. Joe - 88% 2. Tim - 86% 3...

    Help a teacher out :)

14 Boys, 1 Girl :) Oh, I love Maths! I think a good understanding of Maths is key to the understanding of major physical concepts! That is basically a personal joke about how i think the BOS lack of mathematics in the physics syllabus is beyond a joke (hence the little yellow rolling...

    question (Relativity?)

Would it not depend on the frame of reference?

    Help a teacher out :)

Well, us physics teachers help you students out, so now it's your turn to help us (In particular... ME!) My school is going into it's first year 12 cohort starting next year (HSC course begins next term) I am just wondering, what are some of your best memories of the HSC Physics course? Or...

    Net Force On Rocket.

Be careful! In questions such as this, it is assumed that the thrust of the engines remains constant! Meaning that as a rocket burns fuel and decreases in mass, the Weight vector decreases and as such, the net force actually INCREASES (as the engine thrust vector remains constant). So indeed...

WATCH IT BUDDY! Us physics teachers are an interesting breed...

    BCS theory

Exactly right! Hahaha.. I went to that same inservice, lol... Should've seen the look on some of the Physics teachers faces and some of the "but that's not what is in the textbook" replies from some of the teachers, lmao.. Golden. TEXTBOOK != BIBLE
  17. D

    BCS theory

This is the worst thing in the physics syllabus. All the text books are so wrong! Particularly with the concept of a cooper "pair" Crappy thing is... the people writing and marking the HSC questions know no better and if you answered the question with the REAL answer you would not get the marks...

    nanotechnology

Nano is really in its infancy in most areas in Australia. Most nano jobs are overseas. Pay can be measly to very good, if you continue on and get your doctorate (i cbf). Very interesting field, but if i had my time over again, i would not have done it. Sorry for the belated reply
  19. D

    projectile motion

Well, it would be acceptable.. But it depends on what the markers are actually looking for re: how many marks you will actually recieve for using that approach. They may be looking for an understanding of when to apply the different projectile motion formulae

    nanotechnology

I completed the Bachelor of Science (Nanotechnology) at UTS in 2005, after transferring from a Bachelor of Software Engineering after the first year. The course is pretty easy if you have a solid background in Science. When i did it (they may have changed the course format now) there was only...
