Okay, there was no need to re-post that.
Oh, and there was never any real media hype about this. Just a few insane/ignorant jerks sending death threats to CERN scientists.

So I'm guessing that this would be something similar to regular radioactive decay. Except with black holes.
Right. Well I was just quoting what a physics lecturer told me...
So if a micro black hole formed, and Hawking radiation didn't exist, then it would just instantly absorb the earth?
While I'm sure you have good reasons to believe it, not every 08er here is stupid beyond comprehension.
At least I did some research. Wikipedia might not be the most reliable source, but it's good enough for the purposes of this thread.

If black holes were created in the LHC, they'd be quite small, and would most likely dissipate through Hawking Radiation.
Also, the LHC isn't powerful enough to create micro black holes that easily.
Hey, don't dismiss the rap. It's quite accurate, and it makes particle physics just that little bit easier to understand.
I'm not worried about this. Even if a black hole was created, it can easily be contained by shutting down the LHC, and creating a vaccuum environment so the black hole...
Well if it comes to having to eat less meat, then you could easily take iron supplements to make up for the lower iron intakes you'd be getting. Also, tofu and fish are good sources of iron.
And as jb_nc said, there are some health risks associated with comsumption of meat. But not having meat...

That sounds familiar...
You have some very valid points there. Universities are for higher learning. They're not meant to be the big businesses they're turning into.
Re: maths help needed ASAP
tan (x-60) = sqrt(3)
x-60 = 30 degrees (tan sqrt(3) = 30, using exact values)
therefore, x = 90
... I think that's right...
Edit: Wait, no...
since tan sqrt(3) = 30, tan (x-60) = 30
therefore, x = 90.
