The only way that could have happened is if the people ranked above him/her also state ranked. Rank 5 is just too low to have state ranked any other way.

Many people in the past have achieved 99.95 with a similar combination (i.e. no maths or science), so it is still very possible. It probably would have been ideal to have at least one extension subject though. I believe Claudia Zwar had a similar combo last year and got it.

Is each module/option within the exam also weighed separately, in case some questions from a module are harder than others/text was more difficult?
