    2016ers Chit-Chat Thread

I've been focusing on English a couple hours a day and can barely do that either :( I should probably do my other subjects too but ah well... It is what it is.

    Mark Discrepancies

Thanks, I know that it isn't a huge deal and I don't want to treat it as though it is, I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't anything else I should be doing that would prevent these discrepancies... After all, I want to maintain my top rank and get a Band 6 in the HSC for it. :)

    Handling workload in the holidays

I would just suggest that the assignments are to get done first. It doesn't matter how great your study notes are that aren't needed for the time being if you don't get the good marks in your assignments. After all, whilst you need to have the study notes, they do not need to be perfected at...

    ATAR Estimate 2.0

Hey! Since we are closer to the HSC and I have a better idea of where my marks and ranks are now I was wondering if I could get an ATAR estimate? School Rank: Around 250 English Advanced: 1/22 English Extension: 1/5 Ancient History: 4/13 Biology: 2/18 Legal Studies: 1/12 Food...

    Mark Discrepancies

Hey everyone, I just wanted to ask you about mark discrepancies. So basically, I got the marks back for a response I did for Module B which resulted in a mark discrepancy between my two teachers. My main teacher decided to give me a 17/20 whilst my second teacher (a senior marker in the...

    Handling workload in the holidays

I think that your biggest issue is that you are trying to do every subject everyday when not every subject, at this stage, will need as much work as others. The fact that you are allotting 1 hour to each subject each day when there are assignments for some whilst only revision for others is...

We've done it already in Half Yearlies and it was okay I guess.

    2016ers Chit-Chat Thread

I integrate the quotes and the techniques into my sentences so that I can more quickly and efficiently continue on with my analysis. My teacher says it's very sophisticated so that is all that matters for me right now! :O

It just depends on the person but as long as you can get a solid enough argument in 900 words it should be fine. Especially if you do some context and critical theory!

I have an English Advanced assessment for Module B to do in class tomorrow. 40 minutes, 20 quotes, 1350 words... Wish me luck!

    How to write speech

Use 1st-person and don't go overboard with colloquialism. The idea is to engage and persuade the audience to see your view or at least what you are trying to present. But no, it doesn't differ too greatly from an essay. Just make sure you can present well and then an essay-style answer will...

Thank you. I just wanted confirmation before using it to write my critical evaluation on 'Speeches'... Yuck.

    2016ers Chit-Chat Thread

Hey guys, does anyone know what the technique is when an author uses a quote in their text? Rather than just saying the literary quotation or something like that? Or is it just Intertextuality?

I remember we used to have Sushi Wednesdays but no one bought it, so I'm pretty sure we got rid of them.

My school has a canteen, but we get all of the food cooked by a chef and sent in each day. Although, some of it is made at the school. We have pizza, nachos, potato wedges, chicken burgers, spring rolls, chicken salads and stuff like that though... So nothing heaps fancy but not too bad either...

    Songs about Belonging?

Do people do songs for related material? I've always been told to never choose a song as it is basically a crappier version of a poem. :P

    Estimate Plox

    1. 88-91 2. 93~ I think it is a bit touch and go but since you seem to be doing well with decent sized cohorts and based on band 6 achievements in the previous year I think that you should be around here. :spin:
