  • Hello basically i remember my essays etc, have a panic attack to the point where i feel physically ill, then forget everything. This has happened twice now and im hating myself for it because its yr 12 and I need a 90 ATAR. my lowest is 65 and highest is 85 right now.I still have trials and HSC. Could I get a 90, and would I need to ACE everything from here on? stress techniques? please help, im so worked up over it

Basically I wasn't really getting the point of the essays and my understanding of the modules wasn't very clear and it really only clicked before trials where I rewrote every single one of my essays a LOT (I had to rewrite my Mod A essay 8 times LOL).

Pretty much I just got my tutor and teachers to keep rereading it and I went through the text and my notes again to really UNDERSTAND what the focus was to reframe my arguments. So I guess mainly a better practice essay and preparation. For you, try to find where you are losing marks (grammar, content, cohesiveness etc) and really try to improve that for your exams! Good luck : )

Your HSC marks are adjusted and they aren't your raw marks! You might be getting 70s-80s but depending on the subject, it might be equivalent to a band 6 in the HSC. For example, scoring about 84/100 (raw mark) in the HSC English exam will get you about a 90 HSC mark (depending on your internal mark as well), so that is a band 6. Keep working hard, you can do it!
    help and advice please...

No, you are not ‘pushing above your weight’. Its not over yet, yr 12 has just started. You need to ace your internal assessments. By the way, there is a ‘LAT’ test (Law Admission Test) that I believe some universities use as a requirement to get into their courses so maybe you want to check this out during the holidays. Best of luck.
