  • Hi. This is very random, but I saw on a post that you were talking about the Sir Samuel Griffith Scholarship, and that you wanted to do medicine there. I thought I'd let you know that the reason you may not have got a call is because of the course you want to do. I asked them if I'd be able to transfer the scholarship to a different course, and they said yes as long as it wasn't a course like medicine or dentistry. My twin sister applied for medicine there and beat me with with the ATAR, but didn't get offered the scholarship, where I did. Sorry!!!
Got my laptop, which was a combined birthday/christmas present. The rest was just chocolates/lollies, and things like deoderant. Not a huge haul. Though I did get a cheap replacement DVD player, and a mini smoke machine, so that's pretty cool.

Merry Christmas to you. Hows your day been; get anything good?
Oh really? I didn't think that Adv Honours would give many career prospects because it was so broad, that's actually one of the main reasons I was considering Media/Comm; I thought the subjects would be more tailored to getting into an industry whilst still allowing me to pursue my (unemployable) interests. Because I don't know what I want to do afterwards. I guess there will be people to advise me on that when I get there. I'm going to info day anyway, so I'll talk to some of the people there to clear up all my questions, hopefully they can give me some advice on what would be most suitable for me!

As for you, lab practicals sound fun, and I think research would be great. What area do you think you'll be researching in? All the best for Wednesday! Seriously I haven't been this excited for checking the mailbox in years XD
-continued- You really need to know exactly what you're going to major in before you begin, especially if you're planning on doing a double major (which I'd like to). See for me, I'd like to major in English, but I'd also like to try out some history, art history and philosophy subjects, maybe even others (yeah, indecisive) and I've also heard that there are opportunities to take some practical visual art subjects from the faculty of architecture, but if I did advanced honours, I wouldn't be able to do all that.

Then again, I think it would be great to have my honours done in 3 years, especially when compared to Arts (media/comm), which is a four year degree and that's without honours...

Mmm I don't know, it's been playing on my mind a lot lately, trust me. Have you heard anything about either course? What do you suggest?

I hope you hear about your scholarship soon!

    And also... MERRY CHRISTMAS!! c:
    Hey hey :)
Mmmm, well advanced honours is actually what I was considering doing in the first place, and I still am thinking about it, but there are a couple of aspects which I'm not so convinced on.
The thing is, yes I'd love to be able to accelerate into second year subjects and engage with more advanced ideas, but apparently, because you need to fill the credit-point requirements (I think that's what they are- not up to scratch on my uni terms yet ;p) for honours in the third year, there is not a lot of room for subject experimenting. -continued-
If you love old comedies, then you must check out I Love Lucy. My mum bought a whole heap of the DVD's a few years ago, and I still maintain its one of the best sitcoms of all time. They're running some of Lucille Ball's later shows such as The Lucy Show and Here's Lucy on GO!.

All the different strands of med confuse me. I pretty much just hear Med, and don't delve much further. It would be a really great degree to do IMO. I probably wouldn't do well at it, but for someone with passion for it, it must feel amazing to end up as a Medical Doctor. In any case, its sure to be an interesting, what... 9 or so years. :)
What course do you start? I'm sure I've heard, there's just so much going on its slipped my mind.

Boredom is pretty common of the Summer. My advice, find something you can achieve, and go for it. imdb top 250 list is a good start. :)
My family's got a Wii. Now that I've moved out of home, I never get to play it. Funny how the two events just seemed to line up like that.

Uni break is going well. I'm keeping busy with stuff though. As I'm doing a Creative Arts (Theatre) degree, they allow a few shows each break to rehearse, in order to be put on in the early weeks of the next session. So basically, I'm still at the uni quite a bit, doing stuff for that. Oh, and I'm in an independent film. Just to keep my creative juices going. :)

Hows it feel to finally be done with HSC? Good, bad, totally afraid that next year will be twice as stressful? ;) And congrats on your mark BTW. I stopped putting in effort by the end of my HSC, so I didn't even crack the 90's.
Don't worry, I was a bit disappointed with mine too. Well, I know my results are all pretty good, I just really did want to get all-rounders. :( Never mind.

Good luck with your atar tomorrow, I hope you are smiling at 9am :)

    Also, thank you :)
Ooh, how is Gravity's Rainbow? I've read The Crying of Lot 49!
But yes I know what you mean, I'm feeling lethargic too, and there is only so much reading that can be done before you need something else, and there's so much effort involved in being creative.

I'm also getting excited. Tomorrow it will only be one more sleep until results. AH! I never thought it would come! It's like counting down to Christmas.
Oh hai! I don't think we've ever really spoken before, though of course I've seen you lots around here. :) I'm Phoebe.
Hm, I think I'm probably in the same strange feeling of limbo as the majority of the state right now. (You too? Maybe not.) I'm enjoying the free time, I'm working a bit, and when I'm not, I'm painting or reading or becoming more addicted to tumblr, haha, but I do sort of miss the structure of school.

What are your plans for next year?

Also, I'm sort of sad that bos is dying. :(
