Yeah, a good understanding of MX2 is sufficient. The rest can be learned at uni.

MIT is terribly competitive, good luck though.

IMO, the calculus is easier than the algebra. Some of the algebra is pretty advanced. But as for the actual mech subjects, the maths is very calculus based so ATM, it doesn't seem too hard. A lot of the mech maths are formulas and applications of those formulas.
