Honestly, most lectures aren't even worth attending (this has been my experience anyway). Clashing lectures aint an issue unless those subjects have in-lecture exams, in which case they are usually held during the first hour. Btw, I never attend any of my lectures and just do everything...

I did ACST in 2012 and like you, I thought he was pretty nice. He was just a grumpy old man, and really loud for 9am. But we would talk talk talk an go off on tangents. Elements can be finished in like 20 minutes but he ends up taking up the whole hour!
