Mind the gap: Macquarie University Station will be closed for around seven months from 30 September 2018. But don't worry, Station Link bus services will be running to make sure you get to lectures on time.

Hear more about the rail line upgrade and replacement bus service at Macquarie Theatre on Thursday 10 May, 10-11am. Places are limited so make sure you register before 8 May: https://macq.it/2re56x1

As a general thing over-prepare for the 1st class test. The marks/min is crazy
Just had the midsem test and you were right, the marks/min was pretty high. Didn't finish entirely on time but I am somewhat happy with what I wrote (gave it a fair go). Feeling really burnt out with STAT171 atm though, we're just finishing Statistical inference, and the concept of 'power' is doing my head in a little.

Also it's not that bad in the end. You'll find the last topics are super rushed but then the exams are just about recognising the q so what distribution or test statistic to use etc

Hey guys, I have a few questions about MQ and would appreciate any answers.

1. What are the business faculty staff or the science (maths) faculty staff like? Good lecturers, fair markers, helpful etc.?

2. Does anyone have any experience doing Advanced Science (preferably specialisation in Maths) or Commerce or Commerce - Professional Accounting? What has it been like?

3. Has anyone done a concurrent degree? What should you do in your first year of a specific degree to be able to add a concurrent one?

Any general information regarding any of these things is appreciated.

Thanks

1) The staff are pretty good - it's the same as you'll find at any uni with half being good and half being bad. Marking is fair imo.

I looked into doing a concurrent degree, econ and actuarial but it just wasn't going to work out. You really need to talk to a program coordinator in the relevant faculty. If you're interested in doing adv math at mq you can't add anything with it. Also the ATAR is 96,so just do adv math at unsw it's the same atar.

Thanks Ben,

I'd like to go to MQ because of travel and I got early entry into advanced science (through a program where I completed a people and planet unit). Doubt I'm going to get a 96 haha

Why was yours not going to work out? Ik adv math and commerce aren't a double degree already, which is why I want to do the concurrent thing.

Thanks

@pikachu975 How dodgy is your groups RBA video?
Hopefully it's good like 4/5 or 5/5 no clue how they're marking it... and I need good marks for the report too to make up for the narrative interview assignment haha
