Amazingly East Hills seeing a swing towards the government. It was the government's most marginal seat on just 0.2% margin.

Plenty of seats in Sydney have actually seen swings towards the government.

This is the ALP's second lowest primary vote ever in NSW. (Lowest was 2011)

the entire purpose of my vote was to put shooters and fishers and the christian democrats last
The Fred Nile group (i.e. the Christian Democrats) got the most votes out of the minor parties (i.e. not Greens, Labour or Coalition), from the votes I counted at my polling place.

Did people do above the line voting or below the line voting?
At my polling place, 70% of people did above the line, 25% did below, and the remaining 5% made the mistake of doing both (which makes their vote informal).

That's weird, I've been told by friends who've worked in polling that the proportion of people who vote below the line is about 1 in 1000.

You were able to do full preferential voting above the line in this election, so I don't see why you'd vote below the line.

In the previous elections I have attended, as I recall the only way to vote above the line on the senate ballot paper was if you were happy for your preferences to be automatically distributed by the party, as you could only put a single '1' in place, it was invalid to number all the boxes above the line. If you wanted to choose the distribution of your preferences, you had to number the hundreds of boxes below the line. On this ballot paper you were allowed to number all the boxes above the line, which is awesome, I only had to fill in like 17 boxes.

Is this a difference between state and federal elections?
