Next year I'm thinking about doing a double degree of a bachelor of politics and international relations/bachelor of communication in media and public affairs at university of canberra. I've heard positives and negatives about this course. Many say it's a waste of time. What do you all think?

Do whatever you're interested in - if other people think it's a waste of time, it's not really up to them to decide

The biggest con about this kind of a degree is that there isnt really a specific career avenue for it (like becoming a Lawyer for Law students). However, a bachelor's degree is a qualifier for a range of professions. In your degree, you should decide roughly where you want to go and start gaining experience which will lead you down that path. This will compliment your degree and aid with your ability to break into the sector.
