Labor seats to be halved in 2013 election under the leadership of Julia Gillard.
Labor is forecasted to hold just 36 seats out of the total of 150 seats in the federal parliament after the 2013 election. According to Labor polling Labor is on track to lose up to 35 seats of the 71 seats at the federal election. Furthermore, Labor Independents Craig Thomson and Peter Slipper are forecast to lose their seats. Labor Independent MP Andrew Wilkie and Greens MP Adam Bandt are set to hold onto their seats. Also the Labor Independents Rob Oakeshott and Tony Windsor could lose their seats by huge swings against them if they don't sustain hard work. Julia Gillard and federal Labor is headed for its worst federal election defeat in Australian political history. However, if Kevin Rudd became PM of Australia, federal Labor could save at least 20 seats and possibly even win the next federal election. Kevin Rudd could even be elected as Prime Minister after the 2013 election and most likely to form a Labor/ Independents/ Greens Alliance and return Labor to power if a hung parliament eventuated.
