How many hours of sleep should we get a night? This is coming from a year 12's POV. And any ideas of how long a power nap should be?

Thanks in advance.

They say 8 is ideal, but I'm not too sure how many of us can actually follow that.

How many hours you getting a night?

it really depends on the individual and what feels best for you.

6 may be enough for you, whilst others can function on a lot less etc

How are you feeling in the morning? in class?

A power nap should usually only be 20-30minutes max. Anything beyond this means you've entered deep sleep and wake up exhausted

Also, studies have proven the 8 hour sleep ideal to be a myth, and that rather humans have forced these patterns. What's optimal is sleeping 'x' or whatever hours at night, and having a power nap straight after lunch. This obviously isn't possible though with school and work.

So really, it all depends on the individual and at how many hours sleep you are okay with

From personal experience, I'd advise atleast sleeping minimum 6. Ideal amount is 8-10 hours a day. ^^ As this user said, there is no correct or scientifically proven amount.

During exam period, you should be sleeping more :) to rest your mind for maximum performance.

6.5-7 hours is about right for me. On weekends, it can get to 8.

Personally I've found that ~5 hours per night has been my going rate for quite a few years now.

mine is about 7 hours. I don't take 'power naps' because they just make me so much sleepier.

I sleep at around 4-5 hours a night, I could sleep 3-4 and not get tired. It's just how my body functions; everyone is different.

I sleep so much compared to you guys. Absolute minimum is 7 hours and it's normally 8 for weekdays with like 10 on weekends.

I usually sleep for 8 and a half hours during the school week. Then again, I get driven to school. If I had to catch public transport to school it would be far less.
