That's sort of bullshit, seeing as Siri is purely software, oh well jailbreakers will unlock the feature in about 5 seconds anyway

They did improve the battery life.

I agree with the above. I'm fairly certain that Siri will be available for jail broken iPhones by the end of the first week of it being launched.

1 more hour of talktime on 3g. wifi, music are all still the same. seems like a negligible difference to me.

Dude, honestly without steve jobs to brainwash you, you can see that this is a shit upgrade. . + the antennas they sound dodgy, we'll have to wait and see if they even work.my next phones going to be the samsung galaxy S3
16mp camera
quad core cpu
4.7" display
4g
1.5/2gigs of ram.
and no, the s3 will ruin the iphone 5, the s2 already kicks 4s's ass lol. 4s just caught up with the dual core.
the 4s will not outperform the S2 because you should know its using the A5 chip, thats the same chip as the ipad 2, so go watch a comparison of ipad 2 vs S2 and you will see that the s2 is better.
either way, voice recognition for mobiles are complete shit and useless. they are really inefficient. This 'siri' might look good now, you might play with it for a week, but its like a toy, you wont use it again.
apples UI has been great and the best up until now.
they are doing the same thing over and over again so its boring.
android wasnt a competitor 2-5 years ago because of how buggy it was, but now wow, with the new 'ice cream sandwich' UI i think will exceed ios.
Apple = closed source - jailbreaking, makes it laggy as shit.
Android = Open source - no need to jailbreak LOL
im over apple lol, i used to think iphones were great, well they were up until now when they had no major competitors lol. But now theyve lost their touch.

Android and iOS both have merits, and anyone who completely disregards one system is just a fanboy faggot, 4s is still a good phone and you're kidding yourself if you think otherwise

I'm on Android now and have been a user since the early days and I still think it's pretty buggy and inefficiently makes use of the phones battery. No ones doubting the fact that the S2 is leading in the tech specs - this is simply inevitable given the sheer volume of Android devices hitting the market. At the end of the day I was never after something that was speced up to the gills, but rather a more simple phone experience. And a change. I'm not going to restrict myself to one platform merely for the sake of being a fan boy. Switching things up is always good.

Also, to address the battery issue everyone is claiming I find my Galaxy S2 has a similar battery life to my friend's iPhone4, with the same amount of usage with similar apps run. I can still get a full day out my phone starting at 8AM and finishing at midnight with games/music being played for approx. 4 hours plus texts/news/other apps being used. And even then it still has about 20% battery life left.

The Nexus Prime will have Android Icecream Sandwich which is supposed to be a big deal. Scheduled release is on October 11th iirc.

lol. this couldnt get any more biased. better hardware doesnt mean anything if u arent making full use of it. what on earth are you doing with a dual core processor on a phone? a good single core processor is sufficient for handling even the most intensive applications (as shown by the iphone 4). dual core is just a complete waste imo. sure the s2 might load a webpage 1/4 of a second faster but thats a pretty silly basis for saying one phone is better.
also there are other benefits that come with buying an apple device: customer service (undeniably no.1), variety of applications, ease of use etc

Will Siri work with 3GS or is it only for 4S
hardware reliant 4s only because it needs a voice processing chip. voice recognition this good is REALLY hard

The S2 is the only device on which Android actually runs properly because android is such a poorly designed piece of shit they don't use the GPU to draw the UI, they do it all on the CPU so you need a fucking quad core processor to have the OS perform as smoothly as Apple had iOS working when they first released the INITIAL iPhone. Sounds like a great OS.

It's the gamechanging feature.

Enjoy buying a new phone to get that OS because none of the Android phones have upgrade paths to it.

antivirus on your fucking phone are you serious. Buggy malware-ridden piece of shit.

Android isn't open source.

If they'd called it the fucking five everyone would be losing their shit. Pre-ordering to use for development to replace my 4. 64GB I'll buy outright. Seriously contract phones you apes come on.

S2 LTE HD - 1.5GHz Dual Core
Just saying... but Hardware isn't the only thing that matters, if you have good hardware you need good software to run on it and make full use of it and tbh Apple has this covered in every product, it's the perfect marriage.

I've used the Android speech thing and it really is a piece of crap to be very frank. The entire OS in my opinion is just a really confusing and bad experience at this stage. The phone lags pretty severally after a little bit of usage (keep in mind I have the LG Optimus 2x which has a dual core processor) and things tend to crash more than I would like. The battery is really terrible and on the 2x doesn't even last me a proper day with moderate usage (I have had this problem on the last two android phones I have owned). Ice Cream sandwich may very well turn this around so I'm not writing off Android completely, but at the moment I'm not happy.

Either way, a lot of people aren't looking past the surface in terms of this move towards proper voice recognition. When Siri was first rumoured I really didn't care much, but my opinion changed when I saw it in practice. Imagine the possibilities in terms of future development now that we're on this path.

Also question: are developers able to develop things for Siri or is this going to be an Apple only show?
