A) Bad marks
B) Good marks

It's personally B for me, it makes me eager to equal it next time and keep my rank.

When I get A, just makes me sad and annoyed at school and makes me not want to study.

Wish both motivated me the same :p Maybe Ill just have to visualise the cruddy feeling and try to avoid it all cost.

Bad marks. Because it hits me in the head and makes me realise how bad i am at something.

B. Good marks motivate me more because I want to keep my ranking. When I get bad marks I usually dwell on them and make no effort to improve until the last minute.

i dunno, when i get my marks back it's usually when i've already forgotten about the whole assessment which leads to me not caring. other times i promise myself im going to start studying but that never happens. hopefully i start doing some hardcore study these holidays

good marks motivate me more because i know if ive gotten good marks i can get them again as long as i put in the effort. getting bad marks is just too demoralising, i got 90% in PDHPE once and everyone at school mocked me about how stupid i was because the average for my class was 97%

Good marks obviously. Esp. when I know that I put good effort and energy into the assessment task... if I get a bad mark... -_-; It happened to me in English. I was literally the top student in my adv class and I got ranked 60s out of 63

By marks, I assume you mean rank.
Bad rank=me sad=more motivated
Good rank=false sense of security=less study
It depends on when I get my rank back...if it was a trial rank, it would have more impact than a half yearly rank.

If the class average is high & my rank is closer to the bottom it still makes me feel bad. It doesn't motivate me to keep up.

What motivates me is that I can get the fk out of my physics exam (last HSC exam) and fk the grass. Hump of joy, 1 year of stress all devoted to fking to grass. OH YEAH.

After that I'm going to parra to chill.

Bad marks. If i get good marks i become a complacent bastard (e.g. don't bother studying).
