I take textbooks to uni, there's no need to open them up in lectures tho, only tutes (accounting textbook is also very big).

Some people bring MacBook Pro's/Airs, netbooks are rare in uni, it's usually filled with MBPs and some MBAs followed by one random guy with a 17" gaming laptop which is huge and doesn't really fit in front of the guy in the lecture lol

the tables are enough to take notes on (UTS anyway) I've seen some USYD ones, I hate them and the leg room is non-existent in some USYD lecture halls, but UTS it's there.

Just print out the lecture slides and take them and write notes on the sides, or just in a normal exercise book when in lectures, most people do that.

Umm, no. I take the lecture notes. If they say bring the textbook, and I have it, then yes - I'll bring it along.

I usually take a textbook or two. Sometimes they're useful in tuts and sometimes I study from them. Netbooks are pretty popular and I would probably get one myself, but I already spend all day on the computer so I think I should try and avoid spending 100% of my daily wakefulness online like a N3RD.

you can get away with not buying the book for a few subs, but some are pretty necessary

I always take textbooks to uni. Since i live pretty far from uni, i use the time to study on campus when all class are done or during 2 or 3 hour gaps.

question, are Uni textbooks expensive?
Yes. Unishops will try and fuck you. Authors will release new copies of their book with minor edits every few years. Uni will assign books that you can only source through the unishop. AKA try and find them online when you can, or not buy them, or use the library.

??

It's required for many subjects...
Not at UTS. I spoke to all second/third years in my course and they never bought a textbook and do just fine, they all suggest you dont waste the money and buy subject summary notes at most

Yeh $600 for my first sem. 2 I didn't need at all. The others were worth it.
