We voted for a party which uniformly promised to govern by means of a Rudd premiership which would be the sole player in choosing the frontbench, never mind Rudd breaking his promises, the ALP has broken the fundamental undertaking it made to the Australian people at the previous election.
Oh bullshit. Does this mean no sitting PM or Premier is ever allowed to retire or whatever midway through a term? I hope people weren't this whiney in 1991, 1971, 1966 etc. Especially given she'll be Prime Minister of all of about two fucking months before the election's called.
Mate its as flimsy or as strong as the justification that people voted for labor not for Rudd, as though labor under Beazley or Latham or Crean were the same thing, the peoples choice of government, that in the eyes of the electorate it imbued the same values that they think this government is imbued with. It was a presidential style election and anyone who denies it is a liar or a fool.
It's actually a bit sad. Yeah, he's unpopular, but he obviously held his job in high regard and did, in his own way, seek to fulfil the interests of Australians.
Yeah well the question has to be asked, what else is there to do? He's a millionaire, former prime minister of Australia, ex senior diplomat, not much else to achieve but hang around and hope.
