u=ITG m8.

but thanks for pointing out.

@2. Duh. I was referring to blocked sites. and i can list out how easy they are to bypass.
Im not sure how the gov regulates the internet filtering.. but

I do know that there are FTP servers, which completely pass through filters. IP spoofing(eg. hotspot shield/others similar to this- ive used IP spoofs to access databases of gaming forums through backdoors, and they'll track my IP, but it reflects a U.S ip address instead) same applies for unsuitable content, its way easy to bypass them.

Also, using a proxy is another way, there are millions for available proxies over the net, just access a site through a proxy (eg. hidemyass.com) or any of those similar(other individual proxies), to access a blocked out site.
Proxies can be originate from any IP, U.S, mexico, canada, china.. just name it.
and if the government tracks down a proxy, use a double proxy (use a proxy to access a proxy),
and this could go on and on and on. Its serves as an infinite layer of "shielding".

i could name a few more, but it'll be too long.
Just wanted to illustrate how easy it is to bypass a filter.
easy for some computer nerd who actually does that. for your information the amount of people who use alternative IP addresses a a minority in the overall population. a policy that has impact on a majority of australians who don't know how to do all that criminal activity, and shouldn't anyway (some people have morals, you know) is better than a howard/abbott gov't that again would do absolutely nothing and see no results.

you're using the word 'censorship' in a way that implies we are about to level up with china's filtering. thats just not true - you're making such a big deal about something that fair enough should be done. we live in australia, therefore we should access australian websites and only international websites that are socially acceptable.
It will have an impact on websites with inappropriate content from overseas websites, not directly on australian websites - excpet thos that wouldn't be allowed in video stores, theatres ect. THATS FAIR ENOUGH. and i remind you that a little bit of impact is better than the liberal approach of doing absolutely nothing and seeing no results.
whats the point of censorship of this manor when its not going to affect the distribution of child porn. plus a kid is still gonna see a pair of tits regardless of internet censorship.

m8.

one does not need to access a website to download restricted content.

There's such a thing as FTP, and no matter what the gov does, they cant filter that.
(unless ruddy turns to china for help)

but yeh, it blocks out content via the web, thats good. But still it fails. (loopholes everywhere)
and it doesnt take one more than 30minutes to learn about bypassing filters.

Lauchlan can you please re-address your original statement implying that there is child porn on websites and this filter will stop the viewing of said child porn?

Hey so about how you said we were wrong on how it was censorship and it turned out that you were categorically incorrect to an absurd degree

what about that hey?
you taking to meh? justify this absurd claim and read my responses... i give reasons, provide evidence of what labor does, and liberal doesn't.

its pretty hard for you to get anywhere in this debate because the liberal party has NO ALTERNATIVE POLICY to compare with. all you say is its better the government just do nothing. what a pathetic statement... ive said it before and ill say it again - whats the point of having a gov't if they dont act on such issues! it would be ok if they acted on some but not others but they don't at all. nothing whatso-eva major.

the current labor government are the opposite ie. they act, see some reults (and will see results as policies are carried out over this decade and coming years)

no it's not you moron it is censorship of all RC material. It will have no effect on people who are distributing child porn and it will effect everyone else by slowing the internet down.

Cunt is in year 11, can't even vote.
im not taking about the exact details of the policy, im talking about the effects of the policy. it aims to do this for australia and filter out this overseas and within the country.
who cares about the exact computer nerd terms... obviously computer nerds such as yourselves.

In other words:
"What's the point in government if they don't try to intervene everywhere?"

lol the term 'nerds' are used by those with those with a low level of intellect describing those who are smarter than them i.e. majority of society.

What about the police who have to investigate this stuff browsing through hundreds/thousands of images on the internet and pedophiles computers after they get caught? Does that raise some questions also?

But more to the point.. why are you commenting in these threads if you have no idea how the internet works?

Of all the people not to know this, it's the communications minister.
the communications minister is addressing an issue by taking action, something liberal always fail to do. any guesses? its "taking action" to see results.

I actually laughed out loud at this. It's hilariously irrelevant.
