What should i do in uni?? (1 Viewer)

Just chuck some ideas at me guys, really would appreciate it.
and please dont go ' choose one you'll enjoy' cause im trying to figure out what i enjoy atm.

medicine- too much work/ training pressure etc.
actuarial- thought about it, but all ive heard is its mega hard and its outdated( concepts dont work anymore), and its...just getting worse as a degree?( feel free to enlighten me otherwise)
but thats about the extent of my knowledge..
Law- doesnt really interest me either.

I also want to know more about commerce,economics and adv science( adv maths?) degree?
i value money v v highly, and want a job that pays well/good prospects... people say go into the mines... but i want an office kind of job.
So yeah, suggestions?

You could do something like a a B Commerce/Economics. Usually starting jobs are alright in that industry.

haha, that was actually my first job that i wanted, go through adfa get my degree spend some years in the DF, then come out and be commercial, but then the lack of family/ social life and the return of service kind of scared me off...

Engineering is pretty much just maths and science except with an awesome salary. Engineering has one of the highest graduate starting salaries and there is a real need for engineers in australia. There are heaps of different types of engineering such as chemical, civil, mechanical etc etc.
If you enjoy maths and science you will most likely enjoy engineering

Keep in mind that straight commerce degrees can be quite boring, unless your really interested in the content. However, many of the jobs afterwards get better. Some don't, but many do.

Just saying:
Advertising and Public Relations are studied under the Media program instead of the commerce program, and basically anyone can take marketing or human resources management as long as you can pick a minor.

Yeah. For advertising, I was just referring to an offshoot from marketing. Quite a few people I know are doing marketing to get into advertising. PR again is another offshoot type of job.

It doesn't need to be exclusively commerce. I'm not advocating it as the only option available.

yeah you've given me a few more options for the commerce, and they i appreciate that but, accountants etc, really dont seem to stand out for me? haha, really want a prestigious and well paid job, and some of the ones you mentioned dont seem that rewarding?

also, im not a very art-sy type of person so design and architects... not sure...
i know im shallow for placing salaries so high on priorities. but it really is important to me. : /

In business, you can always just aim to work your way up the corporate ladder. Get yourself into a level of management, and go from there.

yeah thats kinda what i wanna do, work my way up, but what wud be the best kind of course for that? like i need more specifics, cause i am really the only one of my family going to uni, and i have no idea...
guiders would be very helpful.
i always had a feeling managing a casino or hotel would be sick. haha
