Wait wait wait wait.
When the newspapers/tv news people started doing a story on the inadequacies of this stupid law, (sparked by how the new Volkswagen Golf is on the banned list, but achieved the highest EuroNCAP rating ever), the RTA put out a list of the "exemption applicable cars".

i.e here;
http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/licensing/downloads/moderately_powered_turbos_2010.pdf

And presto, the following Mercedes Benz C180 Kompressor models are exempt.

BUT, you still need to apply for an exemption for the car, so the RTA is saying you can drive the thing, but just pay them the application fee – which I would normally be against, however in your situation I would much rather pick the Merc instead of pocketing the $26 fee.

So there you go, happy driving. :)

So under the explanation section you would just write "I am applying for an exemption under the moderate performance turbo/superchargers clause, which lists the Mercedes Benz C180 as an exempted vehicle." or something to that effect.
So can anyone confirm this about driving the Mercedes C180 Kompressor on your P's?

Isn't this in that other thread?

Basically you need to pay the $26 and get the exemption letter (and then stash it in your glove box). It'll be easy to get because it's a car which is technically prohibited but considered to be low powered turbo. You can call up the RTA to confirm this if you want.

Yeah, but no one was confirming it in the other thread... so I figured I may as well make a new thread to get a quick response (and I did... thx for that!)

When do I pay the $26 to get the exemption? Im going on my P's on the 13th of June, so if I manage to pass the test and get them, I should just ask for an exemption afterwards... right?

thx

er... you get your P's FIRST, then you apply for exemption. i'm pretty sure u can apply on same day (unless u are at like 5pm or something). i thought it was pretty obvious but guess it isn't :)

Why dont you share you're ATAR and we'll see who is retarded
That remark just shows how childish you are. No-one really gives a toss about one's ATAR/UAI in the real world. It's merely a single-use coupon to get you into uni and even then, it doesn't make much difference once you're past first year since anyone can transfer between courses (and unis) as long as they achieved half decent results in uni.

I think that's more uni pride than anything else :) Let's not forget that really, it's whether or not you get the job which pays you the amount you want for doing the work you desire which makes the difference!

Er, you could have simply called them up to ask or gone onto the website.
Your sheer arrogance makes me wish I didn't post up that information.

Not meaning to stalk this thread but I just realised it's the same person who posted this question in both threads. >__>
