I am aiming to fo B Law/B Comm - I would like to work for an MP in politics for a few years and then head into the private sector in either law or finance.

I think finance - either investment banking or accounting. My dream very long term is to be in one of the Upper Houses of Parliament (Legislative Council or Senate)

CEO of Apple or Google. I'm not aiming to high or anything. :spin:

If that doesn't work out something in Accounting/Finance probably an Auditor (Internal) or something alike.

My aspirations now that I think about it again are

1. Medical Practitioner: Paedeatrician (requires an MB,BS+1 year internship in hospitality+1 year registrar+5 years FRACP (I think that's the name of the fellowship)
2. Occupational Therapist
3/ Speech Pathologist for Italian and Spanish and English speakers (I speak all three)
4/ Italian Male Nurse

4/ requires UTS's excellent degree program, cough, plug: cough, B Nursing BA in International Studies :)

Gotta love the one-year overseas study where the UTS uni pays you return airfare..

 Heyys! Good Luck to future HSCers.

Wow, the thought of me in two years time is kinda scaring me, besides the fact that i'm gonna age , ugghh gonna miss those kiddy years :( Anyone on the same chain of thoughts as me?

Well, i've always wanted to be part of the medicine- obstetrician team [deeply inspired by bosco in tvb moonlight resonance] but i'm pretty hopeless in science, so if i don't make it then probably accounting or teaching maths or history. :p

Are you taking Biology? Taking Biology is not necessary for medicine, as there are no assumed knowledge subjects, but my psychiatrist (lol I'm psycho! :p) said it would help and she has a B Med (from England, I think)

Also, wtf at "I'm bad at science so I'll never make it"? That is SO not true. Science is the best subject because: YOU CAN never GET TOO FAR BEHIND. There is plenty of time over the next 18 months of the HSC for you to work hard at science, and if you're taking it, maths.

Don't worry about it if you're bad at science. A Band 5 should give sufficient scaling to help you if you can pull one or two other Band 5's and two high Band 6's in your main ten units. That should be enough to get the 93.00 ATAR for UWS if you live in GWS (Greater Western Sydney) and the 95.00 for all other applicants and all other Australian medicine schools at universities across the country and world.

I recommend for MB,BS and B Med:
1) UWS (easy to get to, full accredited degree for practice in Australia+New Zealand and the degree is only five year long (5 years FT fulltime)
2) UNSW - 6 year degree Kensington campus rural experience is required to pass the course
3) University of Newcastle&University of New England - Bachelor of Medicine. Fully accredited medicine/surgery practice (practice meaning experience in surg. is a requirement, as for all medicine courses) degree - 5years
4) Monash in VIC - 5 years
5) JCU in Qld - 6 years, NO UMAT required.

Obstetrics is awesome! I wanna help you on that team! And also, maths teaching would be great too. I didn't excel in School Cert Maths according to the Board (ie just missed out on a Band 6 with and 86% in Maths but all my marks were high band 5s in everythink).

I reckon most maths teachers know their maths well but are SHOCKING at teaching.

You cannot justify their laziness. My maths teacher did nothing all year but "Open your books, here's an example, now do the whole exercise while I lazily sit on my arse or walk around"

Just a bit of advice for you guys - if you know what you wanna be, that's awesome. If you don't, that's fine as well. A lot of my friends who have just finished HSC don't know what course they wanna do for uni next year, let alone what they wanna take on as a career. For many of you, that won't be apparent until at least after your HSC results. So don't fret. :)

Good advice. Same as what Mrs Toomey and Mrs Turner, the Careers Advisors at MCK school have been telling us all year, but in a more friendly, casual way that isn't quite as intimidating. It's nice to hear from someone who doesn't care so much about prerequisite study (ie UNIVERSITIES outside of NSW) and so on. :karate:

I'm going to give you quite a few reputation points. 1 rep, but given my rep, I think it's worth about 10 points :)
Oh and I know I only have one green thing but I actually have about 100 rep points! :p

LOL like anna did, I wanted to be a forensic anthropologist or forensic pathologist before (sometimes I actually still do~). But anna what made you decide not to become a forensic scientist? (Oh and btw, congratulations for getting that awesome ATAR anna!!! ^^) Currently I either want to become a brain surgeon (but apparently you need a high ATAR and years of study in uni...), a neurologist, prosecutor, dentist, pharmacist or a psychologist~ So I'll probably pursue a degree in law or medicine after my HSC~
It's extremely hard to become a forensic scientist because of super limited jobs + i don't really like seeing blood + guts unless it's in a game XD

Thanks for the congrats and gluck with your career path. I'm sure you'll do fine :D

LOL, angus's dad is a lecturer for civil engineering @ uts HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Hence me not going to UTS! I kid, i kid :p

I'd like to go into law, specifically criminal (seems way more interesting) where I would like to work as a barrister.

Did work experience in a court and it was absolutely fantastic. Only problem is the 99.55 ATAR cut off for Sydney University is a bit, well, obscene.
