I know what you said, I was saying that while its customary to have a good idea of the house you will live in, you aren't permitted to live in it first.
I know my fiance well but I don't act like I'm married to him when I'm not.

Actually hardly anyone buys a house outright, it takes years and years to pay off a mortgage so infact you do live in a house before you own it. Knowing someone well and living with them are very different.
