Feminism is good. BUT some take it too far, take something Germaine Greer said a few years ago, a man had breast cancer (which happens) and started a charity to raise awareness of male breast cancer, she got on the TV and said he has done this to try and oppress females and show that they are not important. I think that she took that too far, he was just increasing awareness of male-breast cancer which is not publicised. I feel (and so do many of my female friends) that to say your a feminist in our contemporary society comes with a lot of stigmas that off puts people from socialising with them.

Now laws such as EEO do work both ways but we still see this double-standard in occupations*, i know many guys who want to be pediatricians they went to some doctors and they we're saying (the doctors) that many women now do not feel comfortable letting male doctors examine thier children in case of molestation so they go to see female pediatricans YET most of these women would feel comfortable with a male gynocologist?

I feel that feminism IS A GOOD THING but some women take it too far, some of my experience is I have seen a woman walking towards a door with a pram a load of shopping i opened the door for her and she went off at me for treating her like a second hand citizen, and her and another woman got in an arguement cause of my gesture, this as a male made me very confused as i would do it for anyone as it a gesture of kindness and helpfullness with no hidden messages.

Now as i've have stated many times FEMINISM IS GOOD but some feminists take things too far and are making some small gestures of kindness (eg me opening the door cause she had her hands literally full) into symbols and gestures of oppression.

Thats my 2c.

*I also wanna be a nurse and there is a lot of stigma attached to being a male nurse, or primary school teacher or childcare worker

there is definitely sexism against men. Likewise, there is still sexism against women. As long as there are differences, there will be judgement to some degree. Humans are flawed and susceptable to bias, thus, we cannot remove it as a society, we can only minimise its impacts and occurances.

Don't you think it's actually a rather positive thing that she is adapting and changing her views as she gets older and the world changes? It shows that she remains a very forward-thinking individual on a variety of issues.
Contrary to what many would like to believe, Germaine Greer is not a bitter old hag with nothing new to say, basking in the glory of a book she wrote almost forty years ago. She is an intellectual and academic who speaks and writes about subjects she is well-versed in.

For the most part, arent these policies just seeking to compensate the natural disadvantage women experience in the workplace when they decide to mek bubby? Seems more than fair to me that things are slightly tilted to chicks and i'd probably want some workplace protections for my wife too if she were working while laying my children. How is it fair to expect (let alone require) an organisation to pay the same amount to two workers who are not contributing the same value to the organisation.

From the perspective of the organisation how is it any different to a man taking a couple of years off to discover himself/the world?

Sure organisations should (not that that it should be required) invest in reintegrating employees returning from extended leave (maternity or otherwise). This is smart business because the employee has likely been invested in heavily in terms of training/development and in the experience/knowledge/network stakes while they will behind employees who stayed they will be way ahead of new hires.

A lot of modern feminists are all like 'woo bra burning and breaking the glass ceiling' but it goes much deeper than that, and a lot of young women who would today label themselves feminists would actually disagree or find unworthy, the views and practices of more traditional feminists.

If anything, the concept of feminism began boldly and has been hijacked by mainstream society and made less radical.

Because she has a human being growing inside of her. Just the same difference they would see if someone took extended leave because their Dad had died, and i took leave because my big finger was sore. It just is different, and organisations are made of people, and people can tell this difference.

'Complicating life for all'. Yes, because without her life would be simple and easy. How dare she speak her opinion and raise controversial questions which make people think.
Also, she's an extremely dry and sarcastic person, which a lot of people don't appreciate, and thus immediately get on their high horses and ride off into politically correct sunset every time she says something half-contro.
Also, she doesn't say these things and think that people should accept it as the truth, or even her accepting it as the truth, they're mostly just views she's formed which stir debate and intellectual discussion.
