On a serious note, those christian high cats could make a lot of money by making a new "church sign up fee"...seriously can't believe no one has made one.

Obviously they've thought of it. Its just the fact that Christ's love is free and transcends the decadent greed of mankind.:D

Of the thousands of gods and the many hundreds of religons that people worship/follow, how does the Christian god expect us to realise that he is the only "real" god??

Virtually all other religions have elements of truth in them. We dont insist that the humble hindu or meek muslim will burn in the fires of hell for their cultural circumstances. The important thing is that we all strive to be good.

But anyway, what's behind your hatred of Christianity, Sylvester? Really. Why are you so angry with God? Care to share your personal experience?

Wow what you believe is so watered down, seriously, the bible tells us Jesus is the only way to jesus, and that noone comes to the father except by him. Do you actually get our beliefs from the bible?

The Bible also says judge not, dont cast stones, look at the plank in your own eye etc. God is love and if people of other faiths are connected to this love, theyre doing pretty good. Obviously, if theyre not involved with a Christian church, it's likely that theyre not living through Christ, but who are we to judge otherwise good people? You can't conceive, nor can I, the appalling strangeness of the mercy of God. All that we do must be rooted in love. This is stronger than evil; it has defeated death; it is really the only way to convert sinners.
I love hindus, muslims and jews . On questions of fundamental justice, like, eg, jihad, I will fight for universal values and this attack will be strong, but I have nothing against anyone who has found love in their life; they have found God.

@BradCube, re: Arguing for non-existence.

I have two main problems:

a) Many things are claimed to exist for which no 'evidence' could be said to be evidence for,
or which we do not know of a possible evidence for (yet).

b) And this is strongly related, we will never in my opinion be in a 'good epistemic position' to
search and examine for the evidence for many claimed things which may exist... such as say a russell teapot.

It seems you try to get around (B) by placing the burden of deciding whether you're in a good enough position on yourself - However imo this makes your entire schema redundant. You may as well just say "If you feel it doesn't exist, you are warrented in doing so".

From my perspective, I could never believe I am in a 'good epistemic position' to believe that anything does not exist from the evidence I gather, other than from a practical standpoint - Practically though something not existing is the same as not knowing whether it exists or not, so why bother with the 'non-existant' label?

I would perhaps even go so far to say that to me there is no middle ground logically. This is to say (though imo it's only a symantical difference) that there are either only things which exist
and don't exist, or things which exist and we don't know exist. To say that you don't know whether something exists is to say that it doesn't exist in your known reality, this is all that you could meaningfully say 'non-existence' ever means without going too abstract.

I am not judging anyone, that is up to God, but to suggest that all religions can go to heaven provided that they are good is simply un-biblical, when the bible says that none is good, and we are all sinners, and we need Jesus. WE are not to convert sinners either that is God's place, we are to simply tell them the news, love them, and it is up to God, if he chooses them or not.

Is the bible the undisputable divine word of god as it was perfectly passed down to each of the writers of the various books of the bible who managed to get their works included by the many divinely inspired groups who decided the fate of the bible (such as the council of nicea), passed down through many generations and translated by divinely inspired translators who then eventually passed it on, not just the text but the meaning of it, through many divinely inspired re interpretations leading up to our time/your family/your pastor (or what have you) and their divinely inspired interpretations before still remaining the perfect word of god as it is understood by you through your divinely inspired interpretation ???

I really never get people who feel their perspective on their religious text (particularly the bible) is so much better than someone else's
