Graduating salaries for most degrees are pretty poor.

Actuaries do well. Engineers do well (expect a decline because of the GFC though).

Commerce, Arts, Law.... all pretty average starting salaries. And a rude shock for the graduates as they discover that by the second day no one really cares about what they did in uni....

Personally I haven't graduated yet but when I do I won't be taking up any graduate programs because the pay cut would be massive.

You shouldn't class it by degrees but by industries. Most of the grads in my organisation are on $100k+ Package (and that is at the lower end).

Same goes if you talk to any Ibankers/Traders etc.

Law is roughly $60k starting which is not bad.

You do realise that the 3 qualifications you have listed are quite different. They all teach different things, and none of them are really better than each other as its like comparing apples to oranges.

Well its VERY VERY VERY good money considering im only doing it for a year whilst i defer, i.e. un skilled labouring and get $28/hour for first 8hrs, then time and half for the next two and double time for the next two after that. Considering that we work from 6am-6pm, mon-friday. u do the maths

Which equals to (if working 5 days per week for 52 weeks): $109 200 p.a

p.a = per annum (per year)

Yeah clearly missing out dentists proves that I 'know little'... I grabbed a couple that popped into my head as doing well - obviously it's not a comprehensive list.

The main message of my post was that from what I've seen most organisations/managers don't care about your university studies - it's all about how you perform at work.

Especially so, when grads come into the workforce with misconceptions about the roles they will be playing.

I can agree with this. Bsc or masters, the employer does not really care in most cases.

when i said 'the same' i meant in terms of salary, i know that each one of those qualifications are different but in terms of salary CFA and MBA come quite close. I have a friend who got a CA and then afterwoods got an MBA, and now he is earning loads!

How much you earn depends on how hard you're willing to work. You can earn more driving a truck in a mine than most MBA or CFA grads ever will.
