This is only my second Physics lesson. I have the worst teacher and I literally hate the man, he demoralizes us in class and the list on goes to hate him, BUT the point is I am required to design a prac write-up for:

Average speed and Instantaneous speed. I know plenty of ideas for a practical such as this but I don't know how to measure or at least find out an object's instantaneous speed at any certain point.

Help would be greatly appreciated, even if you could throw in some ideas or if you know the resolute answer :D

Thanks in advance.

Jump in a car with one of your parents :) Reset the trip meter, drive for 10 minutes. Record the distance travelled in 10 mins, calculate average speed and look at the speedo every minute and record the instantaneous speed :)

EASY :)

Do u need to complete the practical or just write it up?

If just write it up, this is what i did with my class last year:

We used a radar gun, like the cops use, went down to the street, measured out 50 metres, measured the average speed across 5x10m intervals, measured the instantaneous speed at 25m and calculated the average speed across the entire 50m. Did that for 11 cars (11 is my lucky number) :)
