Looking to spend some good money on durable and comfortable backpacks... what would you recommend?

edit: especially ones that don't sag due to the weight of books

This is exactly what I do. There isn't really any need for a bag.

I personally thought the idea of a messenger/laptop bag nice. Be sure to check that theres enough room for laptop + folder/textbooks.

I bought a nice brown leather one from David Jones the other day. Some are on sale for $130

In the end it all really comes down to comfort/practicality/personal style.

Messenger bags hurt the shoulder, so don't stuff them too much.

Last year alot of people at usyd (guys and gals) were carrying those country road duffel style bags.

The girls all like oversized handbags. I suggest Sportsgirl, Equip, Glassons etc for some student budget friendly finds. Some of them go simple with a "supre" type bag.

The guys either have a backpack/messenger bag... or nothing at all.

Hope that helps...

In the end try not to stress so much about the bag... everything falls into place eventually ... trust me.

Hardly ever needed to bring a textbook. On the odd occasion i've carried my 2,500 page book around in my hand. Didn't see the point of using a bag just to carry that.
